33% more sawing capacity. LTI's specimen extraction floor is expanding — and there's more on the way.

What's new so far:
- 8 → 12 bandsaws
- New large capacity vertical bandsaw: 31.25″ × 37.5″ cutting envelope, 5,000 lb capacity
- 3-ton overhead crane for heavy and oversized stock
- 4,000 sq. ft. dedicated extraction floor (doubled from 2,000)

A large capacity vertical bandsaw and an overhead crane system arrive soon. Stay tuned.
Large forgings, billets, and engine components extracted, machined, and tested at one location in Hatfield, PA. One chain of custody, one report.

Aerospace is building faster. Testing needs to keep up.

A recent look at the aerospace testing industry highlights a growing challenge: there is increasingly more hardware to test than available testing capacity.

Aircraft backlogs, increased defense activity, space production, and emerging aircraft technologies are all adding pressure to the testing ecosystem.

And before these systems can enter service, they still need to be tested, verified, and qualified.

That means materials testing, mechanical testing, NDT, metallurgy, chemistry, calibration, and other forms of analysis remain essential throughout the aerospace supply chain.

Sunday, the ITA-MAG crew rides 150 miles through Nevada's Valley of Fire during Titanium USA 2026. It's the second ride LTI has organized.

Round one: Colorado, 2023. Round two: red rock and 90°F. Ti-6Al-4V handles the heat fine. We'll report back on the riders.

Titanium + additive manufacturing + aerospace = a lot of potential - and a lot of testing.

GKN Aerospace and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory have launched the $8.4 million TITAN-AM program to advance Laser Metal Deposition with Wire for large-scale titanium aerostructures.

The program is looking at more than the manufacturing process itself. It also includes developing robust titanium material datasets, simulation capabilities and nondestructive inspection techniques tailored to additive manufacturing.

That's an important reminder:
As AM components get larger and more critical, the testing behind them has to keep up.

From chemistry and metallography to mechanical testing and NDT, independent testing helps manufacturers understand whether advanced materials and components are ready for demanding applications.
