🍨 During Chicago Innovation Days, attendees got a closer look at a one-of-a-kind stainless steel ice cream scoop produced on our NLX 2500 Gen 2.

We sat down with Luke Ivaska, General Manager of Engineering, to discuss how the idea came about and the inspiration behind bringing Jesse's Gelato to the event.

The project showcased the NLX 2500 Gen 2's turning, milling, transfer, and engraving capabilities, powered by CELOS X with SINUMERIK ONE control, a 12,000 RPM milling spindle, turnMASTER spindle, and enhanced machine rigidity for precision stainless steel machining.

The project was brought to life by Matt Covel, Applications Engineer, who programmed and ran the NLX 2500 Gen 2 throughout the event, turning a simple ice cream scooper into a showcase of precision machining.

A standout highlight of the demo is the embossed DMG MORI logo. Using a 4:3:1 ALGRA speeder head and a Ø1mm ball nose end mill at 43,000 RPM, the entire 16 × 100 mm area was machined in around 13 minutes.

We want to give a special thank you to our DMQP Partner, Bucci Industries, for their contributions during Chicago Innovation Days.

☕ They provided a delicious Mexican coffee blend from 1795 Coffee Roasters, that we brewed fresh each day, helping keep attendees energized throughout the event. It was a pleasure working with Cesar Vega and Giorgio Pesenti to coordinate this partnership and create an even better experience for our guests.
