FibroBiologics (Nasdaq: FBLG) announced that the USPTO has issued a Patent titled: Therapeutic Use of Fibroblasts for Use in Wound Healing. The patent covers methods of treating and accelerating the healing of wounds by topically administering a composition comprising 3D spheroid fibroblasts or fibroblast-derived materials.

The covered wound types span diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pressure wounds, bedsores, burns, cuts, and abrasions. In preclinical studies described in the patent, treated wounds healed significantly faster than controls in both diabetic and non-diabetic models. These findings are preclinical, and safety and efficacy have not been established.

What does it take to build a thymus organoid?

At FibroBiologics, researchers combine fibroblasts, thymic epithelial cells, and T-cell progenitors to create a three-dimensional thymus organoid.

In preclinical research, these organoids:
Self-assemble without artificial scaffolds
Are ready in approximately three days
Can be frozen, thawed, and remain functional
Are designed for injection rather than surgery

In laboratory studies, the organoids activated the same biological signals used by a natural thymus and supported the development of functional T cells.

This work is part of our ongoing research into immune longevity and regenerative medicine.
