You're sweating standing still. Your HVAC unit is working overtime. 🥵
With Huntsville under an extreme heat warning, your AC is putting in serious work. Here's how to help it keep up, and keep your family cool and safe.
For your AC unit:
• Change your air filter now if it's been more than a month. A clogged filter makes your system work harder and cool less.
• Keep your outdoor unit clear of grass clippings, leaves, and debris so it can breathe.
• Set your thermostat a few degrees higher than usual instead of cranking it low. Your unit will run steadier and last longer.
• Close blinds and curtains during peak sun hours to take some of the load off.
• Strange noises or weak airflow? Don't wait it out. Call us before it becomes a no-cool emergency.
For your household:
• Stay hydrated and limit time outdoors between 12 and 6 pm.
• Check on elderly neighbors, kids, and pets. They're most at risk in this kind of heat.
• Use fans to help circulate air and take pressure off your AC.
• Never leave anyone or any pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
