⭐ Intern Spotlight ⭐

Meet Kyson Schultz, one of our interns and a junior at Pittsburg State University.

Kyson was interested in Wiens & Company because of our smaller team and the range of projects we work on. He enjoys the problem-solving side of construction and the fact that the work often calls for thinking outside the box.

This summer, he’s been learning more about what goes on behind the scenes and how a project comes together from start to finish.

Kyson plans to become a project manager for a general contractor, and we’re glad to have him gaining experience with our team this summer.

Progress continues at the Hutchinson Public Library!

New flooring, paint, casework, and built-in work areas are bringing a fresh look to the renovated spaces. The carpet patterns add some personality, while the new shelving and storage help show how these areas will support library staff and visitors day to day.

There’s still work ahead, but it’s great to see more of the details coming together throughout the building.

We’re excited to see Bison Arena at the Kansas State Fairgrounds nearing the finish line — just in time for the Kansas State Fair, which is only 23 days away!

New lighting, fresh finishes and polished concrete are bringing a clean, updated look while still letting the original wood roof structure and steel trusses stand out.

The exterior is coming together, too, with new Bison Arena signage now in place and finishing touches underway.

**NEW PROJECT UPDATE**

We’re underway on a complete HVAC renovation and upgrade for Rock Hills USD 107 in Mankato.

The 53,000-square-foot renovation project will improve the school’s mechanical systems and help create a more comfortable, efficient environment for students and staff throughout the building.

Work is in progress now, with completion anticipated in September 2026, so this school year can begin with a refreshing start!

**NEW PROJECT**

We have started work at Cunningham USD 332 on a new auxiliary gym.

The approximately 8,000-square-foot addition will create more room for practices, elementary recess and PE classes, along with dedicated space for weights and other activities. Once complete, the gym will give the district greater flexibility to serve students across grade levels throughout the school day and beyond.

Completion is anticipated in March 2027.

Progress continues at the Hutchinson Public Library! 📚

Crews are making steady progress inside the lower level, with new finishes beginning to take shape throughout the space. Flooring is going in, walls are being painted, and the exposed ceiling, lighting, and mechanical systems are coming together.

There are still plenty of details ahead, but it’s exciting to see this project move from rough construction into spaces that feel closer to finished.

Bison Arena on the Kansas State Fairgrounds is moving closer to the finish line.

From the brick exterior to the bright, open interior, this project is taking shape. Crews are continuing work on finishes throughout the building, including lighting, restrooms, wall details, and final interior elements.

This stage of a project, when the vision behind it starts to show, is always exciting.

Our team had a great time at the Wiens & Company Family Picnic in June!

Employees and their families gathered at the Buhler Pool for an afternoon of swimming, great food, and enjoying the summer together.

Family has always been an important part of who we are at Wiens & Company, and it was good to slow down and spend time with the people who help make this team what it is.

Project Update: Stroup Hall at Fort Hays State University

On the outside, stonework and roofing details are helping shape the building’s distinctive limestone façade, tying Stroup Hall into the look and feel of campus. Inside, crews are moving forward with framing, drywall, and steel stair installation as the future spaces continue to come together.

When complete, Stroup Hall will serve Fort Hays State University’s nursing and medical diagnostic imaging programs, giving students the spaces they need to learn, train, and prepare for careers in healthcare.
