From Jacksonville to the Panhandle — MAE is on the move!

Our crew recently rolled into Gulf Breeze, FL to conduct geotechnical field exploration in support of an FDOT Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. When the project calls, we answer — drill rigs and all.

PD&E Studies lay the groundwork for smarter transportation planning, and quality subsurface data is what makes it all possible. That's where we come in.

No job too far. No soil too deep.

The Mike McCue Park and Boat Ramp (located at 2501 Second Avenue North) is temporarily closed for a highly anticipated bulkhead replacement project. As the southernmost Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) ramp in Duval County, this is a favorite launch spot for many of us.

However, due to heavy bulkhead damage and shoreline erosion, this critical upgrade is necessary to ensure long-term safety and stabilize our waterfront infrastructure. Ensuring Top-Tier Quality Behind the Scenes To guarantee that the new bulkhead stands the test of time, Meskel & Associates Engineering (MAE) is on the job! Our team is heading up the vital concrete and materials testing for the project. By rigorously testing the concrete strength, MAE is ensuring our new bulkhead is built on a rock-solid foundation capable of handling Florida's coastal elements.

Our crew has been out on the St. Johns River conducting geotechnical exploration for the Hecksher Drive Marina project in Jacksonville, FL — and yes, that is a drill rig on a barge. Because when the subsurface investigation needs to happen over water, we find a way to make it work.
Not your average Tuesday in the office.
Shoutout to our field crew for doing what it takes to get the job done — rain, shine, or open water.

It's National Tape Measure Day and we are HERE FOR IT.
Yes, this is a real holiday. Yes, we are celebrating it.

Look, most people see a tape measure and think "home improvement project gone wrong." We see a tape measure and think PRECISION. ACCURACY. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PROJECT PASSING INSPECTION AND A VERY AWKWARD CONVERSATION WITH A CONTRACTOR.

As a CEI firm, measuring things correctly is basically our love language. Pavement thickness? We're on it. Compaction depths? Got it. Making sure that structure is built exactly to plan? That's our whole thing.

So today, we raise our tape measures high and salute the unsung hero of the construction world — the little tool that keeps everyone honest out in the field.
Don't let anyone tell you a tape measure isn't exciting. Those people have never failed a density test.
