One of the things we're most excited to offer our interns is the chance to get out of the office and see our work firsthand!

Last week, our interns visited the Clarkson-Radmacher Joint Venture office for an in-depth look at Improve I-70 Kansas City, learning about the project's goals, timeline, challenges, and impact. Afterward, they geared up for a hardhat tour of the jobsite, where they had the chance to meet with superintendents and craftworkers, see construction in progress, and learn more about the work taking place.

From estimating and project management to engineering, safety, and communications, it's important for our interns to understand how every role contributes to project success! A big thanks to the CRJV team for taking the time to share their knowledge and provide an inside look at the incredible work happening on I-70.

One of the best parts of an internship is the opportunity to build connections — not just within our companies, but across the region! As part of this year's internship program at Clarkson and Global, we're excited to participate in the Team KC / Kansas City Area Development Council's KC 101 program, which helps connect interns to the people, places, and experiences that make Kansas City such a great place to live and work.

This week, our interns joined hundreds of other students from across the region for Intern Night at The K, enjoying an evening of baseball, networking, and new connections.

We're proud to invest in experiences that help our interns grow both professionally and personally, and can't wait to see what else they discover this summer!

🚧𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇🚧

This summer, Andrew is gaining firsthand experience in project management with the Global Earthwork & Underground team while studying Business Administration at The University of Kansas.

One thing that has stood out to Andrew so far is learning how quickly construction projects can change. From weather and material lead times to permit delays and scope adjustments, he's enjoyed seeing how project teams adapt and solve problems to keep projects moving forward.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys playing guitar, traveling, spending time outdoors, and reconnecting with family and friends after studying abroad in Rome this spring — and, of course, visiting his favorite Kansas City BBQ spot, Jack Stack Barbecue!

We're thrilled to have Andrew on board and can't wait to see what he accomplishes with us this summer!

Congratulations to the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium on the ribbon cutting of the new Giraffe Crossing exhibit and a warm welcome to the giraffes as they settle into their new home!

Global Earthwork & Underground was proud to play a role in bringing this exciting project to life, providing excavation and utility installation services throughout the exhibit area. Our work included storm sewer, water line and fire protection installation, and water supply infrastructure and pond pumps for the neighboring rhino exhibit.

We love being a part of projects that create memorable experiences for our community! We can't wait to visit Giraffe Crossing and see these incredible animals enjoying their new space.

It's officially intern season at Clarkson and Global and we're excited to welcome our largest intern class ever! Yesterday, we kicked off the summer with our intern orientation event, featuring company overviews from leadership, project introductions from supervisors, and an opportunity for the interns to introduce themselves and start building connections across the team.

This summer, students from University of Central Missouri, Kansas State University, Mizzou, MoWest, University of Arkansas, and Missouri S&T will be working across project management, estimating, communications & marketing, safety, and quality control. We're looking forward to a summer full of jobsite visits, deep dives into projects across the state, lunch & learns with company leadership, networking events, and plenty of hands-on experience.

Stay tuned all summer long as we introduce the talented group of interns building their careers with us!

At Global, we're always looking for ways to strengthen our safety program and learn from industry leaders. Recently, Safety Director Cody Schmidt attended the Avetta Summit in Chicago, where safety, procurement, supply chain, and operations professions from across the country gathered to share best practices for keeping teams safe, managing risk, improving work readiness, and delivering projects efficiently.

Investing in safety means investing in our people, and we're committed to continuously improving the programs, processes, and partnerships that help everyone go home safely at the end of the day!
