The vision is officially taking shape as framing goes up on this incredible outdoor living project. A lot of planning goes into a build like this, especially when it comes to tying into unique rooflines and making everything look like it was always meant to be there. Now it's time to watch it come to life.

Out with the old, in with the bold. 👏

This deck got a complete makeover redecking with Deckorators Voyage Sedona decking, Black Slate picture-frame borders, matching stair risers, and new TimberTech Impression Rail Express railings.

The old pressure-treated decking had seen better days, but this upgrade completely transformed the space while giving the homeowners a low-maintenance outdoor living area they can enjoy for years to come. The contrast between the warm Sedona decking and the Black Slate accents creates a clean, custom look that really stands out.

What was once an aging outdoor space is now a stunning upgrade overlooking beautiful Norris Lake. From demo day to the final details, every step of this transformation was designed to maximize the view, improve functionality, and create a space built for making memories.

Three levels on the water is not a simple build. Each tier has to be structurally independent while connecting seamlessly to the next, and every post footing near a pool environment has to account for moisture, soil movement, and load from above. 🏗️

The covered top level anchors the whole project. Overhead protection up there means the grill station and dining area stay functional in any weather, with the lake view stretched out across the property. Mid level brings in the hot tub, which requires its own structural consideration since a filled hot tub can weigh several thousand pounds. That weight has to be distributed through the framing all the way to the ground. 🔥

The bottom level steps down to the pool. That transition from the covered entertaining space above to the open pool deck below is what makes a build like this feel intentional rather than just large. Each zone has a purpose and the layout connects them all without crowding any of them. 🏊

Concrete footings go in the ground before a single board gets cut. That part of the build never makes the highlight reel but it is what everything else depends on. 🏗️

A new deck starts with engineering the foundation for the load it will carry, attaching the ledger board to the house correctly to prevent water intrusion, and setting posts at the right depth for the soil conditions. The framing comes next, and that is where the layout of the finished deck gets locked in.

Every decision made in the framing stage shows up in the final product. Joist spacing, beam sizing, blocking for railings and stairs — it all matters before the decking ever goes down. 🔨

Not every deck gets designed from scratch with a fireplace and custom herringbone pattern tile work. This one did. 🔥

The herringbone pattern in a firebox is one of those details that takes real time to set correctly. Each tile has to be cut and laid at a 45 degree angle, which means more cuts, more precision, and a longer install than a standard running bond. The result is worth it because it turns the fireplace from a functional feature into the focal point of the entire deck. 🧱
