The most frequently asked question is “how/why did you get in this business?” and I think it was a combination of 3 things...
1) We’ve always loved DIY & design (Paul & I renovated my condo bathroom & kitchen before we were even married) and so when we had some extra money saved up from our careers, we invested in a small single-family home. While the reno wasn’t nearly as involved as our projects today, we loved the process and continued buying houses to renovate & sell.
2) We started this business as a side gig, so it was lower stakes. Paul did the construction on the weekends and at night. Lots of sweat equity for both of us, but having stable careers (with health insurance!) helped set the stage for our business to grow without the stress of it being the sole income.
3) We desperately wanted & needed a career change for Paul. His chemical engineering degree transitioned into a career in medical sales and he traveled every. single. week. Add that travel to three kids 6 and under and something had to change. So, when our side gig kept growing, we took a leap of faith in 2020 and never looked back.
