For more than 37 years, Johnny Hackworth has been solving problems, strengthening quality, and helping build ICC into what it is today.
As part of our Quality Department, Johnny focuses on Quality Systems and Problem Solving and says the part of his job he enjoys most is exactly what you might expect: solving problems. And after nearly four decades here, there aren’t many he hasn’t seen.
To Johnny, quality is pretty simple: Be better than your competitor. Better product. Better delivery. Better service. Better everything.
But when you ask Johnny what he is most proud of, his answer isn’t about a particular commutator, project, or accomplishment. It’s teaching other employees how to do something and then getting to watch them shine.
That may say more about his impact at ICC than anything else.
We asked Johnny what makes ICC different from anywhere else he has worked. His answer? “ICC is the only job I’ve ever had.”
Thirty-seven-plus years. One company. One career spent learning the trade, solving problems, passing that knowledge along, and helping the next person get better.
Outside of work, Johnny enjoys metal detecting, hunting for hidden treasures while thrifting, gardening, cheering on the Tennessee Vols, and, most importantly, spending time with his beautiful wife of 38 years, along with his 3 amazing granddaughters.
And speaking of hidden talents, Johnny was the Tennessee Regional Spelling Bee Champion in 2nd, 3rd, 4th AND 5th grade. Apparently the man has always had a thing for getting things right.
The best advice he has learned along the way? “Be kind to people. You never know what demons they are fighting.”
If his career had a soundtrack, there could only be one choice: Workin’ Man Blues by Merle Haggard.
More than 37 years of knowledge. ⚙
More than 37 years of solving problems. ⚠️
And a legacy that keeps growing every time someone Johnny taught gets the chance to shine. 📖
Built with experience. Passed on with purpose. This is ICC. 💙
