It was an honor to be a part of the Ben Franklin Bridge’s history when it was designed, constructed, and opened in the 1920s, and it was equally as meaningful to celebrate the bridge's centennial last weekend.
The Delaware River Port Authority - DRPA hosted an impressive day of festivities, including the opportunity to walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge—a structure that stands as one of the defining achievements of our founder, Ralph Modjeski, who served as its chief engineer.
Our President and CEO, Mike Britt, shared the engineering story behind the bridge and the innovation that made it possible.
We also joined the Council of Polish Engineers in North America to reflect on Ralph Modjeski’s legacy and the continued role Modjeski and Masters plays in designing infrastructure that connects communities.
At 100 years old, the Ben Franklin Bridge exemplifies enduring infrastructure that serves generations. We are proud to celebrate its legacy while continuing to build the future.
