This U.S. Mint Machine Can Punch 14,000 Coin Blanks Every Minute!
Ever wondered how millions of American coins begin their journey?
Inside the U.S. Mint's manufacturing process, powerful industrial presses punch perfectly round metal discs from large sheets of metal.
According to the U.S. Mint, its blanking presses can produce up to 14,000 coin blanks per minute.
But these discs aren't finished coins yet!
They must undergo additional processing before high-pressure coining presses stamp the familiar designs onto their surfaces.
It's a remarkable combination of mechanical engineering, precision manufacturing and high-speed production.
Next time you hold a coin, think about the extraordinary machinery behind it.
