Heat is telling you something.
In a bearing system, temperature isn't simply an environmental condition. It can change lubricant behavior, operating clearance, friction and ultimately how the system performs.
And the causes aren't always obvious. Speed, load, preload, lubrication, sealing, alignment and surrounding components can all contribute.
This month we're looking at what happens when things heat up, from the equipment keeping us cool to the increasingly compact motion systems inside humanoid robots.

Our August newsletter is here.
It’s hot out there, and the equipment keeping us cool is working hard.
This month, we’re looking at what happens when things heat up inside a bearing system and why temperature, speed, load, lubrication, clearance, preload and sealing all matter to reliable motion.
The full August issue also includes engineering takeaways, videos, company news, upcoming events and more.

Precision isn't reaching the target once.
It's reaching it the same way every time.

A robotic arm can reach a position.
The engineering challenge is returning to that position, again and again, with the accuracy the application demands.
That requires more than sophisticated controls and software. Mechanical components throughout the motion system influence accuracy, stiffness, friction and repeatability.
Precision bearings are one part of that equation, helping engineers translate commanded motion into consistent physical motion.
Because accuracy gets you there. Repeatability gets you there again.

A robot is a system of motion systems.
Joint actuators. Rotary stages. Encoders. Linear actuators.
Each performs a different job, and each places different demands on the components responsible for keeping everything moving.
High loads may require rigidity. Encoders depend on extremely smooth, consistent rotation. Compact joints leave very little room for components.
Linear systems have their own requirements for accuracy and efficiency.
That's why there isn't one "robotics bearing."
Crossed roller, thin section, miniature, four-point contact and ball screw support bearings each solve different motion challenges.
The right bearing isn't determined by the robot. It's determined by the motion.

Building the future - together.

Last week, members of our IT team were in Apaseo el Grande, Mexico, working alongside our talented colleagues at CW Technology on the next phase of our SAP B1 ERP implementation.

Together, we've defined the scope of a major initiative that will strengthen how we manage inventory, production, quality, finance, and logistics across our operations.

Projects like this may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt everywhere.

By improving the way information flows throughout our organization, we're creating a stronger foundation for:

• Greater operational efficiency

• Better visibility across our business

• Faster response times

• Improved customer and supplier service

• An even better day-to-day experience for our teams

Successful digital transformation isn't just about software. It's about people working together across countries, departments, and disciplines to build a stronger future.

A big thank you to our teams in Mexico and the U.S. for their collaboration and commitment to continuous improvement.

Walking is easy. Walking the same way one million times isn’t.

For a humanoid robot, every step introduces changing loads, vibration and moment forces. And every step still needs to be controlled, balanced and repeatable.

That’s where the mechanical side of robotics becomes especially interesting.

Precision bearings used in robotic joints must provide the rigidity and accuracy needed to maintain consistent motion—not just once, but cycle after cycle.

Because in robotics, making something move is only the beginning.

Making it move reliably is the engineering challenge.

What really determines bearing performance?

It's about much more than the bearing itself.

Our latest Precision in Motion article explores the factors engineers can control—and the real-world variables that influence reliability.

Read the article and let us know: What has had the biggest impact on bearing performance in your experience?
