It was a pleasure to welcome the HL Mando team to CW Technology de Mexico this week as we prepare for new steering ball nut programs scheduled to begin production in January.

The visit included production process validation and a closer look at the manufacturing processes behind the programs — including finish grinding of the steering ball nut tracks at the Drake Grinder station pictured here.

Joining the visit from CW Bearing USA were David Shephard and Yuting Li, together with Gabriel Barron Ramirez from CW Technology de Mexico. Our guests included colleagues from the HL Mando R&D Center in Auburn, Michigan and HL Mando HLM America in Hogansville, Georgia.

Thank you to everyone involved for the collaboration as these new programs move toward production.

What brings a global manufacturing team together?

Shared purpose, mutual respect and a commitment to solving problems; across languages, cultures and borders.

A recent China Watch feature published by the Los Angeles Times highlights the collaboration between our American and Chinese colleagues at CW Bearing’s Northville, Michigan, facility; including Quality Engineer Technician Christian Baez and Industrial Engineer Wei Yu.

As Christian shared, “We all have the same motive”; to work together and get the job done well.

We are proud of the people who have helped CW Bearing build strong roots in Michigan and continue moving us forward as one team.

Heat is telling you something.
In a bearing system, temperature isn't simply an environmental condition. It can change lubricant behavior, operating clearance, friction and ultimately how the system performs.
And the causes aren't always obvious. Speed, load, preload, lubrication, sealing, alignment and surrounding components can all contribute.
This month we're looking at what happens when things heat up, from the equipment keeping us cool to the increasingly compact motion systems inside humanoid robots.

Precision isn't reaching the target once.
It's reaching it the same way every time.

A robotic arm can reach a position.
The engineering challenge is returning to that position, again and again, with the accuracy the application demands.
That requires more than sophisticated controls and software. Mechanical components throughout the motion system influence accuracy, stiffness, friction and repeatability.
Precision bearings are one part of that equation, helping engineers translate commanded motion into consistent physical motion.

A robot is a system of motion systems.
Joint actuators. Rotary stages. Encoders. Linear actuators.
Each performs a different job, and each places different demands on the components responsible for keeping everything moving.
High loads may require rigidity. Encoders depend on extremely smooth, consistent rotation. Compact joints leave very little room for components.
Linear systems have their own requirements for accuracy and efficiency.
That's why there isn't one "robotics bearing."
Crossed roller, thin section, miniature, four-point contact and ball screw support bearings each solve different motion challenges.
The right bearing isn't determined by the robot. It's determined by the motion.

Building the future - together.

Last week, members of our IT team were in Apaseo el Grande, Mexico, working alongside our talented colleagues at CW Technology on the next phase of our SAP B1 ERP implementation.

Together, we've defined the scope of a major initiative that will strengthen how we manage inventory, production, quality, finance, and logistics across our operations.

Projects like this may happen behind the scenes, but their impact is felt everywhere.

By improving the way information flows throughout our organization, we're creating a stronger foundation for:
