Wildfire smoke is in the air… so make sure you’re checking your HVAC filter!

With so much wildfire smoke affecting Oregon right now, your home’s HVAC system is working overtime to help keep the air inside cleaner. One of the easiest ways you can help your system (and your family) is by checking your air filter more often than usual.

Smoke and fine ash can clog filters much faster than normal, which can:
🍃 Reduce airflow throughout your home
🏠 Make your HVAC system work harder
⚡ Lower your system’s efficiency
💨 Allow more smoke particles to circulate indoors

Did you know your mini split system should be professionally cleaned on a regular basis?

Over time, dust, dirt, mold, and debris can build up inside the indoor unit, reducing efficiency, affecting indoor air quality, and even leading to unpleasant odors. A simple filter rinse isn’t always enough to remove the buildup hidden deep within the system.

At Legacy Heating & Cooling, we use a specialized deep-cleaning washer system specifically for mini split units, called a coil jet. This process helps restore airflow, improve performance, extend the life of your equipment, and keep your system operating at its best.

If your mini split hasn’t been professionally cleaned in the last year, now is a great time to schedule maintenance and give your system the care it deserves.

A question we get asked often:

“Do you install equipment that the homeowner has already purchased?”

The answer is yes — with a few important things to consider.

We can install customer-supplied equipment. However, when the equipment is not purchased directly through us, we are unable to provide a labor or equipment warranty if the unit turns out to have a manufacturer defect or issue.

Here’s why:

When equipment is purchased through our company, we handle the registration process, work directly with the manufacturer, and manage any warranty claims if problems arise. This helps ensure a smoother process for our customers and allows us to stand behind both the installation and the equipment itself.

With homeowner-purchased equipment, we unfortunately do not have control over where the equipment came from, how it was handled prior to installation, whether it qualifies for manufacturer warranty coverage, or the claims process if a defect occurs.

We’re always happy to discuss options and help you make the best decision for your home and comfort. Our goal is to be transparent, honest, and provide quality work every step of the way.
