🎋 A Little Recap from Our Global Knowledge Series!

As part of the JI Global Design–Build Workshop: Growing Communities Through Bamboo, students from Warmadewa University and INES Musanze came together through a series of online knowledge-sharing sessions exploring bamboo, sustainable design, and community-focused architecture. 🌿🌍

It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives across Indonesia and Rwanda, while learning from practitioners and educators working with bamboo in different contexts.

The design for the Sustainable Development Training Centre (SDTC) in Tanzania is now complete! 🎉

Designed as a community and vocational training hub, the centre will support youth and women through skills development, education, and economic empowerment. The spaces are designed to encourage learning, collaboration, and opportunities for building sustainable livelihoods.

A step closer to creating a place where skills can grow, opportunities can expand, and communities can thrive. 🌱

The PPMK Resource Center in Bantul is nearing completion, bringing this shared vision closer than ever to reality. What was once a concept on paper has grown into a space designed to support women, youth, and children through learning, connection, and opportunity.

Every step of this project has been made possible through close collaboration with our local partners, volunteers, and supporters who have helped bring this vision to life. As the finishing touches come together, we’re excited to see this center soon become a place where the community can gather, learn, and grow together.

🌿✨ The ASFA Physiotherapy Sensory Garden is more than a garden, it’s a space for healing, discovery, and growth.

Designed for children with disabilities, this nature-based therapeutic environment encourages movement, play, and exploration through the five senses. Every pathway, texture, scent, and activity is carefully created to support physical, emotional, and sensory development while fostering confidence, independence, and social connection.

Together with the physiotherapy center, the sensory garden helps children build confidence, develop new abilities, and thrive in a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment. 💚🌿

Introducing Ecole Maternelle Graine d’Or

École Maternelle Graine d’Or is an early childhood education initiative serving preschool-aged children from low-income families in the Rusororo sector of Kigali, particularly in the Gisharara neighborhood. The school focuses on supporting children of street vendors (pisteurs) who often lack access to structured early learning environments due to economic and social barriers. Designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment, the project emphasizes foundational learning alongside emotional and social development during the critical early years of childhood. By expanding access to quality preschool education, the initiative helps build the foundation for lifelong learning while supporting vulnerable families and promoting greater social equity within the community.

We’re excited to begin the journey of the Papuan Coral Restoration and Training Center in Raja Ampat 🌊

In collaboration with The Sea People / Yayasan Orang Laut Papua, this project is rooted in community—supporting Indigenous Papuan communities to restore and protect their reefs while building sustainable livelihoods.

From concept to impact, we’re looking forward to shaping a space that empowers, connects, and grows with the community.

Introducing ICLDN IMPACTIVATE HUB

ICLDN Impactivate Hub (Nigeria) Is a multi-purpose community and vocational center designed to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills, tools, and support needed to drive sustainable change in their communities. The hub will respond to critical local needs beyond shelter—including youth safeguarding, unemployment, mental health support, learning inequality, and community cohesion by providing a safe and empowering space for training, innovation, and belonging. Architect Millicent joins as a volunteer, supporting this youth-focused community hub for skills training, wellbeing, and sustainable development.
