Why does my AC run all day when it gets really hot outside?

When it gets really hot outside, your AC may run longer than usual but if it seems like it never shuts off, your system could be working harder than it should. ☀️

One common cause is restricted airflow. Dirty air filters or blocked vents can make it harder for cool air to circulate through your home, which forces your AC to run longer to try to reach the thermostat setting.
Other issues, like dirty coils or low refrigerant levels, can also reduce cooling efficiency and make it harder for your system to remove heat effectively. When that happens, your AC may stay in longer cooling cycles or run nearly nonstop during extreme heat.
