Couple of people have asked me how to hire a good roofer.
1) roofing should be in their legal name. LLC,INC etc. because DBA’s and construction aren’t carrying the right insurance. They need WORKERS COMP
2) find some one who has been doing it for a good long time. Tail light warranty’s and lawsuits put most roofing company’s out of business in 3 yrs.
3) if you want reasonable pricing find a owner operator. sales guys work on commission your paying for that and the insane advertising budget some of these companies have.
4) find some one who can write their chosen shingle brands LABOR warranties. If the manufacturer doesn’t trust them to do it rite why should you?
5) transparency! you should have some one walk you through exactly what the job entails material used and the size of the roof.
6) finally, stay local! just my personal feelings but we don’t need to give private equity firms more money.
