Reed’s Lawn & Hardscapes, LLC started in 2012 by Dustin Reed, a former graduate at North County Tech, Turf management and landscape design program. Dustin's focus was providing high quality landscape and hardscape services to the Saint Louis area. In 2017 Dustin's brother, Kody Reed, joined the company as co-owner. Kody’s background in residential construction transformed the company into a full e

xterior service company, Reed’s Land & Home (RLH). Now, RLH is a complete exterior construction company with two divisions, a Land Division managed by Dustin and a Home Division managed by Kody. The goal was to develop a better water management plan, fix the erosion issues caused from the downspout such as a sinking driveway, cracked foundation and failing garden wall.

Because we were replacing the asphalt driveway and repairing the garden wall
we were able to route the downspout to the backyard by using a 3” pvc pipe sleeved in 4” schedule 40 pvc under the retaining wall and asphalt driveway. With a clean out /maintenance point just after the driveway. The down spout daylights using a pop up emitter 10ft from the rear property line. We installed a leaf filter/ clean out at the end of the metal downspout as well.

During demo we discovered a 5 to 6 inch thick concrete driveway under the asphalt so after removing that we were able to excavate our trench for our buried downspout system.
We positioned the pipe in the middle of the driveway to avoid any pressure from cars driving over it & kept the pipe below the base of the driveway to help protect it.
The new asphalt driveway has roughly 8 inches of gravel base, compacted in lifts.
We repaired the retaining wall using a proper base & 1 foot of gravel backfill for proper drainage.

Then applied premium seed & straw to the damaged turf in the backyard.
