Talented Tuesday

Today, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Jay Nunn, our recently promoted Manufacturing Manager at the Summerville plant!

Jay joined the Summerville team in August 2025 as a Production Department Supervisor supporting our Printing Department. Since joining Hood Packaging, he has played a major role in assisting with the installation and startup of our new Coater 303 and B&B Line 4, while also supporting operations across multiple departments throughout the plant.

With more than 40 years of experience in the flexographic printing industry, Jay brings tremendous knowledge and leadership to the team. His expertise includes press operations, maintenance, production leadership, workflow optimization, and workplace safety. Jay is recognized for improving efficiency, reducing downtime, supporting cost-saving initiatives, and fostering a culture centered around safety, quality, and teamwork.

In his role as Manufacturing Manager, Jay will oversee manufacturing operations across the Summerville facility, supporting production, safety, quality assurance, productivity, cost control, manpower planning, waste reduction, and overall operational performance throughout the plant.

Jay recently relocated from Massachusetts to Summerville, South Carolina, where he shares a home with his significant other, Kim. Outside of work, Jay is extremely health conscious and enjoys hiking, biking, golfing, and working out.

Fun Fact: Jay gets up before the rooster crows every morning to get his workout in! 💪

Today, we are proud to spotlight Donald Brown, our Employee of the Month for April!

Donald has been a dedicated member of the Hood Packaging team for over 16 years, joining the company in 2009. He started as a material handler and has continued to grow with the organization, now serving as a Production Department Supervisor since 2020.

Donald is a true leader who consistently steps up for the team. During a time when we were short a tuber operator, Donald didn’t hesitate to jump in and run multiple tubers to keep operations moving and support our team. Even after bringing on a new operator, he has continued to assist and train, ensuring a smooth transition and continued success.

While we don’t typically recognize managers/supervisors as Employee of the Month, the Summerville Leadership Team felt strongly that Donald’s dedication, leadership, and commitment deserved to be celebrated.

Donald, thank you for everything you do. We are truly grateful to have you on our team!

Win’s Wednesday

Today, we’re proud to spotlight Tonya Overturf!

Tonya has been a dedicated part of the Hood Packaging team since April 2022. She has served as a Conversion Operator and Trainer, and throughout her time, she has been a tremendous asset to the Summerville team with her leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence.

We are excited to announce that Tonya has been promoted to Shift Lead. This is a well-deserved next step in her journey! Tonya is also our first Shift Lead in Summerville, and currently the only one in this role, and we are excited to see how she continues to grow with the company.

In her new role, Tonya will lead and support shift operations, ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are met while overseeing training, production readiness, and team communication. She will also help maintain compliance standards, step into additional leadership responsibilities as needed, and is here to support the team in any way to help them grow and be successful.

Outside of work, Tonya is a proud wife to her husband Kevin, a mom to Clayton, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Zachary, and a loving Mimi to five grandchildren. Having moved from North Carolina six years ago, she still makes it a priority to travel back every other weekend to spend time with her family. As she shared, being a Mimi, Mom, and wife is what she is most proud of.

Today, we’re excited to spotlight Kyrylo Rys, better known around the plant as Lynx!

Lynx joined the Hood Packaging team as a permanent employee in January 2025, starting as a Coating Operator. From day one, he has been a tremendous asset thanks to his willingness to learn, grow, and step up wherever needed. His dedication to mastering new skills, including learning the new Coater 303, has not gone unnoticed.

We are proud to announce that, effective February 2, 2026, Lynx has been promoted to Dual Operator. Congratulations, Lynx!

A little more about him. In the past, Lynx enjoyed creating music. These days, he loves playing PlayStation, reading comic books, and hopes to learn how to play golf. He is also a proud father to his daughter, Laura, who lives in England.
