It's no secret that safety is critical to us at Kraton. We are always working to develop and solidify our safety culture throughout all our locations, regardless of working environment. Each year, sites host a Safety Day to help reinforce safety principles.
Safety Days are employee-planned and led, focusing on interactive activities that help build a safety culture across the company. Each Safety Day invites employees to take a unique look at safety and encourages safety behavior both in the workplace and at home, all while having a little fun with our teammates.
Some of the informative, engaging, and sometimes playful activities this year included:
🇳🇱 Almere, Netherlands (Office and Innovation Center): Created an interactive escape room to reinforce the value of 'see something, say something, do something.'
🇺🇸 Houston, Texas (Headquarters): Participated in a scavenger hunt, finding locations of life-saving equipment, evaluating possible risks, and practicing hazard recognition, a pinnacle of safety.
🇺🇸 Houston, Texas (Innovation Center): Learned about and practiced situational awareness. Many also participated in First Aid and CPR training.
🇺🇸 Jacksonville, Florida (Office): Employees explored the consequences of unsafe practices by racing to make a sandwich while only using one arm.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, India (Office and Innovation Center): Conducted an orientation and awareness training with shared experience and discussion.
🇫🇷 Niort, France (Manufacturing): Participated in a Neuroscience Serving Prevention workshop to understand how our brain works to help us better protect ourselves.
🇫🇮 Oulu, Finland (Manufacturing): Teams searched for assembly points, taking team selfies with each point to help ensure everyone knew where to go in an emergency.
🇺🇸 Panama City, Florida (Manufacturing): Groups engaged in discussions around Safe Work Permitting and how perspectives on safety differ between cultures, age groups, backgrounds, etc.
🇸🇪 Sandarne, Sweden (Manufacturing): An external lecturer was invited to tell his inspirational story about the realities and aftermath of a serious workplace accident. A competition was also hosted with the prize being "eternal pride and a place in the history books."
🇺🇸 Savannah, Georgia (Manufacturing and Innovation Center): Watched a demonstration on drone survey techniques for plant safety inspections and learned about drone safety and FAA regulations.
🇨🇳 Shanghai, China (Innovation Center): Team members worked with a local fire department to practice effective and safe use of fire extinguishers.
🇨🇳 Shanghai, China (Office): After practicing a building evacuation drill, employees practiced their fire extinguisher skills.
🇯🇵 Tokyo, Japan (Office): Evacuation drills were organized with building management, allowing employees to practice safe evacuations and routes.
Thank you to the entire Kraton team for continuing to make safety a part of our culture!
