September is here and students are back in the classroom—but before summer is officially in the rearview mirror, we’re taking one quick look back at what 28 days of summer construction can accomplish. 🏫💥

In K-12 construction, countless hours of planning, coordination, budgeting, scheduling, and collaboration throughout the school year lead to one critical window: summer break.

When students leave for the summer, every day counts.

We value the strong working relationships we share with our client, School District U-46; our architecture partner, DLA Architects, Ltd..; and our outstanding trade contractors. The collaboration among all this summer led to a significant transformation of Illinois Park School in a mere 28 DAYS, including:

· Reconfiguring classrooms for elementary students
· Updating infrastructure and building systems
· Refreshed common areas and support spaces
· Transforming the drop-off and pick-up circulation patterns
· Multi-purpose room addition (on track for completion this fall)

🎉 A milestone worth celebrating at School District U-46 Kenyon Woods Middle School!

The ribbon is officially cut on the school’s 47,000-square-foot expansion and renovation—an investment that creates new opportunities for students and supports Kenyon Woods’ transition to serving 6th, 7th, and 8th graders under one roof.

We’re proud to have played a role in bringing this vision to life and especially grateful for the collaboration and partnerships that made it possible. We’re also proud to have partnered with Studio GC whose thoughtful design helped shape the vision for this transformed learning environment. Projects like this are a reminder of what can be accomplished when a dedicated District, design team, construction partners, and community come together around a shared goal.

Congratulations to District U-46, Kenyon Woods students, administrators and staff, and the entire Elgin school community on an exciting new chapter! 🏫✂️

For 20 years, ICI has been proud to build alongside Walmart.

Since 2006, our team has completed more than 125 projects across the United States—from ground-up stores on 50+ acre sites to complex expansions, remodels and rebranding initiatives within active, occupied stores.

Along the way, ICI was selected as a prequalified professional services provider through Walmart’s Preferred Contractors Group, strengthening a relationship built on collaboration, efficiency, and consistent performance. Most recently, our team was entrusted with renovating and retrofitting multiple distribution centers throughout the country.

This working relationship has been formative to who we are as a company. It reflects the trust of a valued client, the dedication of our project teams and trade partners, and a shared commitment to delivering successful projects nationwide.

ICI’s Summer Soirée brought together members of our team, clients, and industry partners for an afternoon of great food, plenty of laughs, and most importantly, time to connect beyond the work.

At ICI, "Have Fun" isn’t just something we say—it’s one of our core values, and our Summer Soirée was a great reminder of why.

We’re incredibly grateful for the clients and partners who trust us, collaborate with us, and play such an important role in what we build together. It was a pleasure to step away from the day-to-day and celebrate those relationships.

We work hard. We build incredible things. And we believe there should always be time to enjoy the people who make it possible.

As summer winds down, we’re celebrating our incredible interns before they head back to college! ☀️🎓

We enjoyed a late afternoon meal together, some friendly competition playing bags, and plenty of time to socialize and reflect on a great summer.

Thank you to our interns for the energy, fresh perspectives, and hard work you brought to ICI over the past several months. We’re grateful you chose to spend your summer with us and wish you all the best as you head back to campus. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
