Ward 6 Community Spotlight
Some people don’t seek recognition, they simply show up, serve others, and make a lasting difference.
Today, I’m honored to recognize Mr. Bob Mathis.
After 32 years of faithful service and at the remarkable age of 95, Bob has retired from volunteering with the Powell Terrace Food Pantry.
For more than three decades, Bob dedicated himself to ensuring donated groceries made it from local grocery stores to families in need. Week after week, year after year, he gave his time without asking for recognition, simply because he cared about his neighbors.
His impact is incredible:
* ❤️ 32 years of volunteer service
* 🛒 An estimated 4 million pounds of food delivered
* 🚗 Nearly 500,000 miles driven
* 📅 Approximately 1,700 weeks of serving others
People like Bob remind us that a strong community isn’t built by one grand gesture—it’s built through thousands of small acts of kindness, repeated faithfully over many years.
Mr. Mathis, on behalf of our community, thank you for your humility, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving others. St. Charles is a better place because of people like you.
Congratulations on a well-earned retirement, and thank you for leaving behind a legacy of service that will inspire generations to come.
