Back in the 1970s, legendary sculptors reached out to our team with massive artistic visions that required serious industrial engineering to bring to life safely.

One of our most challenging historical projects was "Continuum," a monumental geometric sculpture designed by renowned Minnesota artist Paul Granlund and installed in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1975. We did not just build the intricate, interlocking shapes of the main monument.

Whether we are shaping complex industrial components or precisely forming geometric panels for a public monument, the rules of great fabrication never change. True craftsmanship means turning complex concepts into permanent realities.

The Legacy of Leadership at Jones Metal Products

This photo from June 2008 captures a rare and special moment: a gathering of our past and (then) current presidents, representing decades of engineering excellence. From left to right: Marion Sutton, Dal Donovan, Dick Brown, Ed Mulligan, and Dan Erb (missing only our founder, Frank Jones).

The technology and machinery we use have evolved tremendously since 2008, but our core leadership philosophy remains exactly the same: an unwavering commitment to precision, reliability, and staying true to our manufacturing roots.

Traditional mechanical dies can severely thin out and weaken metal blanks. Because hydroforming pushes the metal evenly using hydraulic fluid, it avoids those weak spots, allowing engineers to specify thinner, lighter sheets. Even better, this even distribution of pressure "cold works" the metal, altering its molecular structure to increase its yield strength right inside the machine.

There's a difference between a company that makes your part and a company that actually cares how it turns out.

At Jones Metal Products, we've been in your corner since before most manufacturing companies in this country even existed.

A century of history, a family still leading the charge, and a team that treats your engineering challenges like their own. From drawing board to final part, we're here for all of it. Come see what it means to have a real partner.

Over a century ago, Frank Jones opened a small shop in Ohio to manufacture porcelain-enameled hospital utensils and everyday goods. But staying still means getting left behind. Instead of clinging to the past, we completely pivoted, reinvented our facility, and mastered advanced hydroforming. Today, we use that exact same legacy of craftsmanship to form complex aerospace hardware and power generation components.

We specialize in manufacturing components for extreme environments where performance is non-negotiable. Our team produces flight-critical parts for aerospace and defense, essential components that support global power generation, and high-precision solutions for the medical industry.

As we shape the future of these advanced sectors, we continue to serve commercial lighting keeping our business moving forward without ever losing sight of our roots.

We have built our company around that exact truth. Jones Metal Products started a century ago by stamping and porcelain-enameling everyday goods, right alongside the manufacturing giants of that era. But as the world changed, we realized that holding onto the past wouldn't protect our future.

Instead of standing still, we evolved. We completely transformed our plant, pivoting away from traditional enamelware to master advanced hydroforming technology. That willingness to step outside our comfort zone and reinvent our capabilities is exactly why our doors are still open, our team is still growing, and we are still proudly manufacturing right here at home.

Take a trip down memory lane with this incredible vintage photo of the Jones Metal facility from the 1950s.

This snapshot perfectly preserves a bustling chapter of West Lafayette's manufacturing history. For an extra bit of fun history: check out the front right corner of the building—that belongs to founder Frank Jones' Cadillac. We love looking back at where we started as we continue to innovate and manufacture for the future.
