275,000 hours worked. Zero incidents.

Hedrick Brothers Construction received a NASA Certificate after recording a zero-incident rate across 275,000 hours worked. The company was joined by three team members who received individual honors spanning mental health, worker safety and safety leadership.

Anna Schmidt received the Mental Health Award: Commercial GC, while Victoria Miel received the Worker Safety Award of Excellence for her work educating and supporting Hedrick Brothers employees. Samira Turner, ASP, CHST, CCHM, Safety Manager at Hedrick Brothers, received the Mike Scarborough Safety Professional of the Year Award.

“Safety is something our team works at every day, so it means a lot to see Hedrick Brothers and several members of our team recognized together,” said Samira Turner, Safety Manager at Hedrick Brothers. “Reaching 275,000 hours with zero incidents is something everyone at Hedrick can be proud of, and these awards reflect the work our team puts in to looking out for one another.”

Congratulations to Anna, Victoria and Samira! Thank you to the AGC Florida East Coast Chapter for hosting our team.

Some projects carry more weight than the contract.

Dale and Cathy Hedrick have supported the YMCA of the Palm Beaches since the 1980s. Dale went to the Y almost every day with his father. He credits it with adding years to his father's life, and happiness to those years.

That's why the new Lake Lytal Park Community Center means so much to our team. It sits inside a park Palm Beach County residents use every day: ball fields, walking paths, parking. The work fits around all of it, on a schedule we wrote with the county and the Y, not one we handed to them.

The building is only part of the job. The rest is the community that keeps using the park while the building goes up.
This year Hedrick Brothers is sponsoring the YMCA of the Palm Beaches Prayer Breakfast. It will be Dale and Cathy's 17th year at the table.

Thank you to Palm Beach County Parks and the YMCA team for working with us on this one.

Proud to serve as general contractor on Waterview Apartments. Congratulations to Rich Global and the Sun Foundation on a project that took years of work to reach this point.

Six weeks in and it is coming out of the ground. Well done to our team and every trade partner on site.

Part 2 of 4 - Q2 2026 Lead Times & Escalations series.

A more competitive subcontractor bidding market is helping complex projects finally pencil out but several labor and supply chain pressures still require strict underwriting discipline this quarter.

Recent immigration enforcement actions have directly tightened the South Florida trade labor pool. Subcontractor capacity is stretched thin across concrete, MEP, and framing trades extending procurement schedules and increasing general conditions costs.

For owners, the response isn't to wait it out. It's to underwrite conservatively, lock in trade partners early, and build schedules with realistic float. That's the discipline our preconstruction team brings to every project. Full report link in bio.

Hedrick Brothers Development has secured $56.5 million in construction financing for The Hedrick at Lake Toho, and the project is moving into vertical construction in Kissimmee.

The 366-unit Class A community will rise on 21.7 acres along Toho Grande Boulevard, delivering one-, two-, and three-bedroom residences to one of the fastest-growing submarkets in the Orlando metro. Residents will have direct access to Lake Tohopekaliga, a resort-style pool, coworking and gaming spaces, pickleball courts, a dog park, EV charging, and the surrounding trail systems.

Hedrick Brothers Development leads the project and Hedrick Brothers Construction serves as general contractor a vertically integrated partnership that gives us seamless coordination from development through construction.

We're joined by a wonderful team of partners.

"Securing construction financing is a significant milestone that allows us to bring our vision for The Hedrick at Lake Toho to life," said Burk Hedrick, President of Hedrick Brothers Development. "We're bringing a housing option that is very much in demand in this part of the state."

Lake Toho is the latest marker in our Central Florida momentum following the 363-unit Hedrick at Baldwin East in Orlando, set for its topping-out ceremony in two weeks, and Edon Park, our 22-acre mixed-use destination in Kissimmee. We're building where Florida is growing.

Cool down and catch up at FEFPA

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone next week at the Florida Educational Facilities Planners Association conference in Boca Raton starting June 29.

Amid the pace of the conference, the Hedrick Brothers Construction team has created a space to slow down, recharge, and reconnect. Stop by our booth, take a break, and spend a few minutes with our team. Van Roberts, Business Development Manager and Project Executive, Joe Keating will be onsite to discuss your project.

Whether it is a quick conversation or a deeper discussion around upcoming educational projects throughout Florida, we welcome the opportunity to connect.

See you next week.
