5 YEARS LATER… and we’re still taking care of this floor. 👏

About five years ago, Independent Wood Flooring completely sanded and refinished this beautiful hardwood dance floor at The State Ballet of Rhode Island in Lincoln, RI.

Since then, we’ve continued maintaining the floor to help protect the wood and extend the life of the finish.

For this maintenance service, we applied a specialized anti-slip floor finish for added traction — an important consideration in an active dance studio.

One of the things we’re most proud of isn’t just how a floor looks the day we finish it. It’s being invited back years later to help our customers protect the work we’ve done.

Proper maintenance can make a tremendous difference in the life of a hardwood floor.

Another staircase transformation completed in Cranston, Rhode Island! 🔨

This staircase started with temporary timber treads and risers that needed to be completely removed.

We replaced them with solid white oak stair treads, white primed risers, and decorative cove molding beneath each tread to give the staircase a clean, finished appearance.

The white oak treads were finished on site, with the final coat intentionally being saved until the remaining finishing work is completed. Once the nail holes are filled and everything is ready, that final coat can be applied to lock everything in and give the treads their finished surface.

My portion of the project is officially complete — now the finishing team takes over!

We love taking something unfinished like this and turning it into a staircase that looks like it belongs in the home.

We recently completed this hardwood floor restoration in Coventry, Rhode Island.

These older prefinished hardwood floors had become severely scratched, worn, and tired-looking over the years. Instead of replacing them, we completely sanded away the old finish and stain, bringing the wood all the way back to its original natural beauty.

Once the sanding and preparation were complete, we protected the floors with three coats of professional water-based polyurethane.

The result? A completely different-looking floor — brighter, cleaner, natural, and beautifully restored. ✨

What a transformation. 🔥

This staircase went from dated carpet and an older railing system to a completely updated custom staircase.

We removed the existing materials and rebuilt the look with beautiful oak treads, white risers, oak newel posts and handrail, and black metal balusters.

One of our favorite parts of projects like this is that we’re not simply covering up what was there. We’re fitting and building the new staircase components on site to create a finished product that looks like it belongs in the home.

Another piece of Rhode Island history restored. 👏

We recently completed a full sand and refinish of these approximately 100-year-old pine floors in North Scituate, Rhode Island.

Older pine has a character that you simply can’t reproduce with a new floor. Our goal on this project was to preserve that character while giving the floors a fresh, professionally finished surface.

After sanding the floors back down, we applied three coats of Bona oil-based polyurethane. The oil-based finish brings out that beautiful, rich amber tone and really highlights the natural grain and age of the pine.

We love seeing an original floor like this brought back to life instead of being covered up or replaced.
