With summer on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to welcome our newest intern to the SDC team, Brody Fuhrman! 🎉

Brody is a junior at York College of Pennsylvania pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and is actively involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Outside the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and contributing to his family’s farm.

“I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience both in the office and out in the field. I chose to pursue civil engineering and surveying because I have always been interested in the construction field and the outdoors since a young age. I get to have the best of both worlds with having a mix of in-office work, while still being able to go out on job sites.”

SDC’s quarterly employee appreciation outings are always a great opportunity to connect outside the office, and this past Friday we celebrated at Collusion Tap Works. 🎉

Ten teams competed in a friendly co****le tournament while enjoying great food, drinks, and plenty of laughs together outside the workday.

Thank you to everyone who joined us — including a few friends from York Excavating Co LLC who stopped by to be part of the fun. It was the perfect kickoff to the long holiday weekend!

St. Peter's A Bible Church celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for its building expansion on May 13th, and thankfully, the rain held off for the event.🎉

The new addition will create much-needed classrooms and expanded gathering spaces for children, youth, and the congregation to connect and grow.

SDC was honored to assist with zoning approvals, including a special exception and variances, as well as preparation of a boundary and topographic survey, land development plans, and related site planning and approvals for the expansion.

As construction moves forward with Centurion Construction, we’re reflecting on how far the Church has come — scroll through to see the historic construction photo shared by parishioners.

Recently, the SDC team enjoyed a Lunch and Learn with Contech Engineered Solutions. Thank you, Semhal Abebe and John Mote, for your presentation. We appreciate your expertise on 𝙈𝙍𝘾 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 and are always looking forward to these educational meetings.

The presentation covered function, design, and maintenance of Contech’s StormGate bypass structure, CDS pre-treatment system, Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) MRC system, and Jellyfish system necessary for regulatory water quality credits.

From serving 180 students to supporting nearly 500, the expansion and renovation of Leaders Heights Elementary School marks a major investment in the future of the community. We had the opportunity to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside the Dallastown Area School District team! 🎉

Working with RLPS Architects, SDC provided survey, land development, PennDOT HOP, and NPDES permitting services for this transformative project. The improvements nearly doubled the building and parking areas while adding new access drives, stormwater controls, retaining walls, and utility coordination across a site with challenging topography.

Thank you to RLPS, Dallastown Area School District, and the entire project team for the partnership on this community project!
