Proud to support the launch of the Arresta 100 by ProTx today.

The Arresta 100 is an impact attenuation system for short-term static roadwork sites designed to absorb crash energy and improve safety for road workers and road users.

Advanced Metal Curving was engaged during the development phase to roll aluminium tube sections that form part of the energy absorption cassette.

Through multiple trial runs, profiles, tempers and grades were refined to achieve the required forming consistency for the final application.

Cold forming aluminium can introduce strain hardening. In this case, metallurgical testing confirmed no significant change affecting the intended energy absorption performance of the curved sections.

It was impressive to observe how the tubes deformed cleanly during the impact test without cracking or splintering — under a 100 km/h Dodge RAM impact. The video on their website is well worth a look.

We were delighted to attend the launch and proud to play a small part in this life-saving innovation.

Congratulations to John Ferguson, ProTx and Ventia on a significant step forward in road safety innovation.

Repeatability looks a little different when every bend needs to land at an exact angle with precise straight ends and accurate radii.

Jobs like this require more than simply a “pipe bend”; consistency between every part is critical so fabrication and installation are smooth and straightforward.

Unlike mandrel bending, which is typically limited to fixed die radii, section rolling gives us the flexibility to produce custom radii accurately down to the millimetre.

A good example of how precision and repeatability go hand-in-hand in section rolling. 👌

Not every rolling job is about pushing material limits (thankfully!). Large production runs like this highlight the importance of efficient setup and maintaining consistency. Once the machine is correctly configured, the focus shifts to ensuring the 450th and 1800th sections matches the first.

From one-off specialist curves to high-volume production runs, consistency is the goal. 👌

𝙋𝙪𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙋𝙁𝘾 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜

These 200 PFC sections were recently rolled TOE OUT to some tight inside radii, 800mm and 500mm.

The tighter a section is curved, the harder it becomes to maintain the original shape of the steel. The 800mm I/Rad came up well, with 6mm concave through the web. The 500mm I/Rad pushed the material much further, resulting in over 10mm concave.

That’s the reality of cold rolling at extreme radii, every section has a limit where deformation becomes unavoidable.

Not every project requires a perfect cosmetic finish, particularly when the steel is structural and hidden from view. But understanding these limitations helps us work with customers to achieve the best possible outcome for both function and appearance.

Turns out our last post was back in early 2025… so we figured we should probably dust off the socials and get back into it. 😅

Kicking things off with this large 273mm Dia pipe rolled recently - made for a pretty impressive photo out the front of the workshop.

Over the past year we’ve tackled everything from heavy structural sections to tight-radius pipe rolling and custom curved components across steel, stainless, aluminium, brass and even titanium.

Safe to say the workshop’s been a lot busier than our social media!!

Good to be back sharing a few projects again.

🎸🦘 Just a quick heads up - we'll be closed on Monday 27th January for Australia Day! We hope you all enjoy the day, whether it's with a BBQ, some good company, or just kicking back.

We’ll be back on deck, ready to curve some metal and rock your projects on Tuesday. Enjoy the long weekend! 🎉

🎉 Congratulations to Sencova Steel Fabricators ! 🎉

We’re proud to celebrate our valued customer, Sencova Steel Fabricators, for their impressive win at the Australian Steel Institute Awards! 🏆

Category: Buildings - Small Projects
Winner: Brisbane Grammar School - STEAM Building

At Advanced Metal Curving, we were proud to contribute to this incredible learning environment for students and staff. Over approximately 12 months, we curved a variety of SHS, RHS, pipe, channels, beams, and plates. What an outstanding achievement by everyone involved in the project! 👏👏

🌏 Advanced Metal Curving Reaches Singapore! 🌏

We're thrilled to announce that our work is now featured at Singapore's stunning Gardens by the Bay! After Toowoomba Council was asked to create a sculpture for the Australian section, DDC Engineering reached out to bring it to life. Now, this incredible piece, part of the “Genestreaming Journey Sculptures,” stands proudly at the main entrance, where approximately 10,000 people can see it every day!✨

Seeing our craftsmanship showcased as part of this genestreaming journey fills us with pride! A huge thank you to our customer DDC Engineering, Toowoomba Council, and Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay for this amazing opportunity. We’re honored to have been part of this project and to see how beautifully it all came together.
