Seymour Whyte Multi award-winning civil contractor delivering major essential infrastructure across Australia.

In June, our team reached a major milestone during the first weekend closure on the Eastern Freeway between Hoddle Street and Burke Road.

During a major weekend closure, crews completed critical drainage and ITS crossings, removed 7 high mast light poles and 2 overhead gantries, and carried out a major clean-up before reopening the freeway on time for Melbourne's Monday morning commute.

This milestone has set the project up for future works and marks an important step forward for the Eastern Freeway Upgrades. Take a look at what the team achieved in just one weekend.

A huge shout out to everyone involved for delivering this complex program of works safely and on schedule.

Remembering Tom Williams

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tom Williams, who lost his battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) on 9 July 2026.

Tom dedicated more than 36 years to Seymour Whyte and retired in 2024 as our National Survey Manager. A passionate advocate for innovation and a respected mentor, Tom played a significant role in advancing our surveying capability and developing generations of people across our business.

In honour of Tom, Seymour Whyte and our employees have raised more than $17,000 to support the fight against MND.

If you would like to support the fight against MND, please consider making a donation in Tom's memory:

Our thoughts are with Tom's family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.

You may have spotted our Healesville–Koo Wee Rup Road Upgrade (South) project being featured in the latest edition of Detours Magazine, the official magazine of the Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA).

Through innovations such as remotely controlled TriSigns, custom-engineered barrier systems and AI-enabled safety technologies, the project significantly reduced worker exposure to risk.

These award-winning initiatives demonstrate the impact of putting safety at the heart of project delivery. Congratulations to everyone involved!

To celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026, it was a privilege to welcome Mr Jie Pittman to our Upper South Creek Network (USCN) Program project, where he delivered a Welcome to Country, presented Ways of Our Water, and shared insights into NAIDOC Week and this year's theme.

As part of our partnership with Sydney Water, we're helping deliver essential wastewater infrastructure to support Western Sydney's growing communities, making Jie's insights into the cultural significance of water especially meaningful.

A proud First Nations man with ancestral ties to the Darug, Gadigal, Wiradjuri, Yuin, Kooma and Ngemba nations, Jie shared how water connects Country, culture and community. Through storytelling and lived experience, he encouraged reflection on caring for Country and building respectful relationships with First Nations peoples.

A sincere thank you to Jie for sharing his knowledge and helping us begin our NAIDOC Week celebrations with meaningful reflection and learning.

We're pleased to have been selected by Transport for NSW to deliver the new Mitchells Causeway crossing following the closure of the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass.

This important project will restore a critical connection between the Blue Mountains and Central West while delivering a more resilient, long-term solution for local communities, freight operators and road users.

Mobilisation activities have commenced and major construction will begin soon, with works including deep piling and bridge construction over the existing Mitchells Causeway.

Thank you to Transport for NSW for the opportunity to be part of this important project. We look forward to helping restore this vital transport link for the communities that rely on it.

More than 30 women from our Sydney projects recently attended the Civil Contractors Federation NSW Women in Civil Lunch.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, build strong industry networks, and hear from an engaging panel on career progression and the challenges that remain.

Initiatives like the CCF NSW Mentorship Program and ‘50 by 50’ vision align with our own commitment to advancing gender equity and creating lasting change within our industry.
