Australia's looming Digital IDs, and a future cashless society: Celebrating 15 Years of success, Freedom & Fairness!
As we approach our 15th anniversary, Lumorail is proud to reflect on a legacy built on the principles of hard work & great customer support, friendship & community, and equal opportunity & inclusion.
Looking ahead, we’re staying true to those principles:
✅ We are against digital ID cards for staff or job applicants
✅ We will always accept cash — because everyone deserves the freedom to choose.
Our General Manager, Garry Hannah, explains our position clearly:
“As General Manager, it’s important to look ahead and prepare for the future. Regarding recruitment, Digital ID cards would be wholly unnecessary. We already use birth certificates, passports, driving licenses, and Tax File Numbers, which is more than enough to identify who is who. Digital ID and the related systems, would be a frightening waste of taxes that achieves nothing more than we have already.
“And regarding our customer base, cash has been around for 1000s of years, and still today remains vital for those who either don’t understand or simply choose not to engage with technology — and that is their right. We believe it’s important to respect that choice.
“After 15 fantastic years, we’d like to think we have a good idea of what makes a business successful — and that’s looking after the people who make us who we are: our customers, associates, and of course our workforce. Imposing pointless and costly policies for people is not something we are prepared to support”.
Here’s to 15 more years of Lumorail with fairness and freedom at the heart of everything we do.
