🌀 The Karmann Ghia Type 34 was Volkswagen’s upmarket coupé, shown at Frankfurt in 1961: a Ghia body drawn by Sergio Sartorelli with Tom Tjaarda credited for the tail, built by Karmann over Type 3 underpinnings. Volkswagen never sold it in America, and made 42,500 against 469,000 of the earlier Type 14, so it has always been the rare one.

This 1964 car is an Australian-delivered right-hooker, and the original 44hp flat-four is long gone. In its place sits a 2.7-litre air-cooled flat-six from a Porsche 911 on Webers, with Fuchs wheels to match. The seller reckons 253 right-hand-drive Type 34s are left. Does the swap suit it?
