SESL Australia recently carried out compliance testing on multiple batches of potting media to determine whether the actual product volume matched the volume stated on the packaging, in accordance with AS 3743 – Australian Standard for Potting Mixes.

Using our NATA-accredited laboratory, we assessed the products in their uncompressed state to ensure accurate volume determination. The results helped identify variations and provided valuable information for improving product consistency before reaching customers.

Simon making headlines!

Simon Leake, our Founder and Head Scientist at SESL Australia, recently shared his expert insights into the extensive processes required to ensure that the grounds of a site are fit for high density housing development before any works commence.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Simon also voiced his support of the NSW Government’s decision to undertake plans for housing development on Rosehill Racecourse verses the formally suggested contaminated Camellia industrial site.

Our Soil Science Manager, Owen Guy, recently had the pleasure of hosting 10 eager students from TAFE NSW Ryde School of Horticulture for a fantastic experience, where they embarked on a laboratory tour and indulged in a short but insightful lecture on soil sampling and result interpretation.

The day was filled with curiosity and learning, as these students delved into the world of soil science. Owen’s expertise was readily available, and many students said he made extremely complex concepts easy to grasp.

We're thrilled to hear that the students had a great time and found the experience truly informative! It's always a pleasure to inspire the next generation of soil scientists and horticulturists.

On Monday, SESL Australia’s Director of Science presented to a room full of undergraduate students at the University of Technology Sydney in the heart of the city. The cohort are in their second year of a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, and Simon offered some practical advice and recommendations on how to get into and succeed in the landscape architecture business. After Simon’s presentation, the students led an insightful discussion with him including a range of questions about soil science and horticulture.
Simon is proud to regularly present as a guest lecturer at educational institutions and to professional organisations across Australia. Thanks to the University of Technology Sydney for hosting us!
