Those small marks along the mortar line show where DPC injection was carried out to treat rising damp inside the wall. Rising damp often appears slowly, and the early signs can be easy to miss.

• Peeling paint near the bottom of walls
• Damp patches on plaster
• White salt marks on brickwork
• Skirting boards starting to deteriorate

One of the remedial solutions used to address this issue is DPC injection, which creates a new barrier inside the wall to stop moisture rising through the masonry.

Seeing cracks like this above your windows?
It’s often more than normal settling. In many cases, it points to a rusted steel lintel. As the steel corrodes, it expands and forces the brickwork apart.

Rather than patching over the crack, the real fix is replacing the steel and restoring the structure properly.
