On August 6, members of our Shared Services teams had the opportunity to visit two City of Edmonton projects: 132 Avenue and Stage 3 of the Terwillegar Drive Upgrade.

Stepping onto active construction sites provided valuable insight into the planning, coordination, and teamwork required to deliver complex infrastructure projects. Our teams gained a greater understanding of the challenges field crews navigate every day, from evolving site conditions and safety requirements to maintaining schedules and quality standards.

The visit also highlighted the strong collaboration between field and office teams. Seeing the work firsthand helped connect the processes and support provided behind the scenes with the people and activities that bring projects to life.

A sincere thank you to our project teams for welcoming us to the sites, sharing their knowledge, and showcasing the incredible work being done. Opportunities like these strengthen our understanding, foster collaboration, and remind us that every role contributes to building better together.

Progress continues on the Terwillegar Drive Stage 3 Project, a collaborative effort between our Municipal and Bridges Business Units, with the Municipal team recently completing the first concrete pour on site.

This important milestone marks another step forward as construction activities continue to gain momentum through this pivotal stage of the project. Every achievement brings us closer to delivering critical infrastructure that will serve the community for years to come.

The project scope is extensive and includes major infrastructure upgrades such as:

🚧 8.5 km of road reconstruction and new alignments
🚧 Two major reconfigurations of intersections (adding lanes), repositioning and new minor traffic light-controlled intersections
🚧 One new four lane bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 One new pedestrian bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 Resurfacing the existing five lane bridge crossing Anthony Henday
🚧 600m of new trail, reconstructing curbs and gutters where required

A huge shoutout to both our Municipal and Bridges teams for their dedication, expertise, and relentless work ethic. Their commitment to safety, quality, and ex*****on continues to drive this project forward.

As part of the 2026 VINCI Canada Fund, we recently had the opportunity to visit two of this year's supported organizations in Alberta: Women Building Futures and Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS).

During our visits, we toured their facilities, learned more about their initiatives, and gained a deeper understanding of the important work they do to support individuals and strengthen communities. We were also honoured to present symbolic cheques on behalf of the VINCI Canada Fund in recognition of the support being provided to their projects.

While financial contributions are important, these visits highlighted the value of building meaningful partnerships. We look forward to exploring opportunities to support these organizations through employee engagement, volunteering, knowledge sharing, and other initiatives that can help create lasting community impact.

Thank you to the teams at Women Building Futures and YESS for welcoming us and sharing their inspiring work. We are excited to continue this journey together and see the positive difference these projects will make in the year ahead. 🌱

Our Municipal team has recently wrapped up their work on the Glenwood West Neighbourhood and Alley Renewal construction project. 🚧

The Alley Renewal Program, which was part of a two-year contract with the City of Edmonton, was the main focus for our Municipal team. This job required the reconstruction and paving of the alleyway, surface drainage improvements, and alley lighting upgrades to LED fixtures.

We want to recognize the efforts of our team members in the Municipal Business Unit for their hard work to complete this exciting project!

On July 23, Carmacks employees volunteered with the Edmonton Christmas Bureau at the Taste of Edmonton, an outdoor food festival and free concert series.

Our volunteers spent the day welcoming guests, checking tickets, and helping track festival attendance at Sir Winston Churchill Square. By creating a friendly and organized experience for visitors, the team helped ensure festivalgoers could focus on enjoying the incredible food, live entertainment, and local artisan showcase that make Taste of Edmonton such a beloved community event.
