When engineering a steam shower, the details matter immensely. The glass must extend fully to the ceiling line to maintain proper thermal levels. To account for proper post-use drying, we incorporated an adjustable transom vent at the top of the paneling to regulate humidity seamlessly. Tile is a gorgeous choice for a custom entryway, but when applied to horizontal outdoor surfaces in our climate, it often fails due to winter freeze-thaw cycles. At Sprucehill, we tackle these environmental challenges by implementing high-performance moisture drainage systems before any tile is laid. 🏠🔨

On this project, we have coated the concrete steps with an Ardex 8+9 waterproofing isolation membrane. We are following that up with a specialized, semi-permeable Laticrete assembly. This system allows any moisture that penetrates the tile grout to travel safely along a subsurface drainage plane and escape toward the street. It completely mitigates hydrostatic pressure, keeping the entryway durable, secure, and looking pristine for years to come. ✨🧱
