When a project is coordinated properly, the details do not need to announce themselves.

Proportion, alignment, and restraint are carried through from the larger moves down to the smallest junctions. That consistency is what gives a home its sense of calm.

Design intent only survives construction if it is translated clearly before anything is built.

For this space, early coordination through detailed drawings allowed structure, lighting, and millwork to align before fabrication and installation. That work is what allows the finished room to feel calm and resolved.

Throwback to Pricefield House - a Toronto heritage home, where we carefully modernized an Arts and Crafts classic. The renovation strengthened the building envelope for improved airtightness and energy performance, introduced low-flow water fixtures to reduce consumption, and opened the interior to the rear yard, all while preserving the charm and craftsmanship of the original design.

Design intent only survives construction if it is translated clearly and protected throughout ex*****on.

We use detailed millwork drawings as decision points for alignment, sequencing, and tolerances. On site, we verify proportion and geometry before finishes are complete so the finished space reads exactly as intended.

The biggest mistake in homebuilding? Bringing in a builder too late.

A well-designed home isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about feasibility, budget, and timeline. The earlier you involve your builder, the better your project will run.

At Cliff & Evans, our Preliminary Project Plan (PPP) ensures everything is aligned before construction begins:
✅ Scope of Work – Defined with the full team to prevent scope creep
✅ Budgeting – Based on real trade input to avoid surprises
✅ Scheduling – A proactive timeline to keep things moving
✅ Risk Mitigation – Identifying challenges early to protect your investment

Bringing your builder in from the start means fewer delays, better cost control, and a smoother experience.

Thinking about a new home or renovation? Let’s talk about how we can set your project up for success.

This beautiful home is a testament to what can be achieved when innovative construction meets complex challenges. At Cliff & Evans, we don’t just build structures; we navigate the intricate world of regulations and site-specific constraints to make our clients' dreams come true.

This project wasn’t just about following the rules—it was about asking the right questions and finding solutions that allowed us to blend modern architecture with the natural beauty of the environment. From managing steep terrain to preserving mature trees, every step was taken with care and precision.

We take pride in our ability to dig deeper, challenge the status quo, and work closely with governing authorities to achieve the best possible outcomes. It’s about more than just construction; it’s about delivering on our clients’ goals with creativity and respect for the environment.

At Cliff & Evans, we’re committed to building not just great homes, but strong relationships—with our clients, architects, and the regulatory bodies that help us bring these ambitious projects to life.

When you think of construction, it’s easy to focus on the beautiful end results—the stunning kitchens, luxurious bathrooms, and impressive exteriors. But at Cliff & Evans, we know there’s so much more that goes into creating those “pretty pictures.”

What often goes unseen are the countless intangibles that make a project successful. It’s not just about coordinating trades and materials; it’s about the behind-the-scenes work that truly brings a project to life.

Here’s a peek at what’s really happening:

Strategic Planning: Before the first nail is hammered, we develop a detailed plan that anticipates challenges and maps out solutions.

Clear Communication: We keep our clients informed and involved every step of the way, making sure their vision is realized.

Team Collaboration: We bring together architects, designers, engineers, and tradespeople, ensuring everyone’s expertise is aligned.

Quality Control: Our site supervisors are always vigilant, making sure everything meets our high standards.

Adaptability: Construction projects can be full of surprises. Our ability to adapt quickly keeps everything on track.

The finished product may get all the attention, but it’s the process—the careful planning, problem-solving, and teamwork—that truly makes it a success. At Cliff & Evans, we’re proud of every step we take to create something extraordinary.

Renovating a 100-year-old heritage home comes with its own set of unique challenges, especially when it involves retrofitting a complex steel skeleton into the existing structure. This process is not just about preserving the character and history of the building—it’s about integrating modern engineering solutions to ensure the home stands strong for another century.

Take a look at this steel shop drawing, showcasing a 3D image of the intricate four-story steel structural support system we’re installing. Each beam and connection is carefully designed and coordinated to fit within the existing framework, maintaining the home’s historical integrity while providing the necessary structural support.

A special shoutout to the project architect, for their exceptional design work that balances tradition with innovation. Their expertise in crafting a design that seamlessly integrates the new with the old is crucial in making this project a success.

The complexity of such a project requires not only precision in design but also a deep understanding of both old-world craftsmanship and modern construction techniques. It’s a true testament to the collaboration between our team at and bringing these two worlds together seamlessly.

Every project like this reminds us of the importance of honoring architectural heritage while embracing the future, and we’re proud to be part of it.
