Recently within our KW Pressure Testing multifunctional test pit, a manufactured bespoke piece of stainless welded tubing was subjected to very high hydrostatic pressures.

The test piece was placed below ground and connected to our high pressure control systems with lighting and cameras ready for recording. The pit was fully enclosed with blast-proof closures in place.

The welded tubing, rated to 20,000 psi (1379 bar) had highly pressurised water introduced and then held for a specific length of time.

Our test engineers then increased the controlled pressures to way above the rated pressure, up to 40,000 psi (2780 bar) then held again for a set period of time.

The test piece was produced by specialist manufacturers of high-tech gas and fluid handling systems, Orbital Fabrications and third party witnessed in our test facility by experts in producing, storing and delivering green hydrogen.

Our test engineers provide a full test documentation pack, which includes a test certificate, test engineer’s report and test chart data.

We’ve just recently refreshed our KW Pressure Testing website, keeping the branding consistent with our sister company KW Designed Solutions, all within the KW Group.

We’re a growing team with a very healthy order book with requirements ranging from qualification testing components destined for deep ocean deployment to gas testing high pressure assemblies for use in the hydrogen automotive industry.

Many new developing technologies require temperature testing in our environmental chamber whilst being hydrostatically tested at various high and low pressures, or high pressure burst testing, capturing the failure point of a component and its destruction.

Once the testing is completed, we provide documentation packs which include a test certificate, test engineer’s report and test chart data.

We’ll be regularly adding fresh content to the website within the news section and include project examples in the future – so the website is a constant work in progress.

Pressure testing systems used for simulating harsh in-service environmental conditions are meticulously designed by our KW Designed Solutions Ltd engineers and manufactured for a range of industries and sectors for new technology development testing, research testing, production testing and manufacturing output.

KW Designed Solutions Ltd is authorised to apply the ‘NB’ mark and register boilers, pressure vessels or other pressure retaining items manufactured in accordance with ASME designators U2 Pressure Vessels and U3 High Pressure Vessels.

The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors is the worldwide leader in pressure equipment safety. Established in 1919 to promote greater safety to life and property through uniformity in the construction, installation, repair, maintenance, and inspection of pressure equipment.

The National Board maintains records of pressure-retaining items that are registered by individual manufacturers who meet a set of requirements. Registration with the National Board indicates that a pressure-retaining item is constructed in accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and is inspected by a qualified National Board Commissioned Inspector. The ‘NB’ mark is used by manufacturers to identify items registered with the National Board.
