⏱️ Loop Technology US Inc. will be at CAMX 2026 this month!

🤝 We are co-exhibiting with Zund America, Inc. on Booth L18, 22–24 September, in Atlanta, Georgia. Come and talk to Matt Hardman, Global Head of Sales, about FibreLINE and how it integrates with Zünd Systemtechnik AG's Aero Q-Line cutting systems for ultra-high-rate composite preforming. 🏭 FibreLINE cells takes material from raw roll through cutting, sequenced kitting, robotic forming and placement. Large multilayer plies replace thousands of narrow AFP courses. Production targets are beyond 200 kg/h, with dry-fiber breakthrough trials at the NCC - Innovating for Industry on track to exceed 350 kg/h - built for aerostructures, wind blades, drones and other high-rate defense and industrial parts.

🙌 This National Composites Week, we’re proud to celebrate the materials and the manufacturing that make lighter and stronger structures possible.

🤖 At Loop Technology, we specialise in automating the preforming stage so composite aerostructures, wind blades and drones can be built at rates the industry needs. Our FibreLINE system facilitates cutting, sequencing, picking, forming and placing of large plies with millimetre precision, delivering deposition rates of 200 kg/hr and beyond - a step change versus traditional AFP/ATL and manual layup.

🥼 That capability is developed and proven in our AdAPT cell at the Loop Technology Centre in Dorchester, our dedicated R&D and demonstration facility for advanced automated preforming. It is here that we continuously develop and characterise the latest generation of FibreLINE, run customer trials on different materials and geometries, and refine processes.

🏆 FibreLINE is installed at the NCC - Innovating for Industry and at The University of Sheffield AMRC COMPASS (as part of the Boeing-led IHSS programme), the latter located near Loop Technology Sheffield. We were honoured when FibreLINE was recognised with the 2025 JEC Composites Innovation Award in the Aerospace Process category, as well as when FibreFORM received the Composites UK 2021 Innovation in Composite Manufacture Award.

Loop Technology Sheffield Office marks an exciting new chapter, alongside our HQ in Dorchester, Dorset and additional office in Bristol.

🛩️ Loop Technology are delighted to have one of our FibreLINE systems installed at the COMPASS (Composites at Speed and Scale) facility at the The University of Sheffield AMRC. This is the largest system we have ever installed and includes two FibreFORMs for the layup of carbon fibre plies that utilise modern combined servo motor-drive units and a custom kinematic solver to precisely form the plies during transfer from cutting table to mould. Our end effectors are integrated with the largest industrial robots in the world in the FANUC Europe M-2000iA’s, with the 1700L’s weighing an extraordinary 12.5 tonnes each!

🏗️ FibreLINE systems provide ultra-high rate preforming for the manufacture of composite structures, transforming the efficiency with which parts and components can be made. FibreLINE technology is applicable to manufacturing a wide range of composites including aerostructures such as wings, empennage, nacelles, flaps, slats, as well drones, wind turbine blades and automotive panels.

💻 FibreLINE facilitates the transformation of raw composite material into refined composite structures within a highly efficient factory layout. For aerostructures, traditional AFP-based approaches with multiple mould tools and associated tolerance stacks would require four to five times the number of production lines to achieve comparable output rates. The process is planned, simulated and managed through Loop Technology's bespoke software architecture. User friendly work flows support the import of customer geometry and plybook data, all the way through to planning and executing operations and there is full traceability built-in.

🛩️ Loop Technology had a wonderful time showcasing our FibreFORM technology on the Aerospace Technology Institute's stand at Farnborough International Airshow!

🤖 FibreFORM is a pick and place system that transforms the manufacture of composite structures through ultra efficient material deposition. It is part of Loop Technology’s broader FibreLINE product suite, for manufacturing aerostructures such as wings, empennage sections, flaps, slats as well as wind turbine blades and drones.

👏 A massive thank you to the ATI as well as the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and the other partners on the stand in Safran and Prestwick AeroSystems.

⏱️It was exhilarating to be there as the ATI launched its ‘Composites Framework for Growth’ that details the massive opportunity in the upcoming years to grow the composite sector in the UK and the route to achieving it through the use of integrated, certifiable and scalable industrial systems.

🗣️ The Loop Technology team in Alun Reece, Matt Hardman and Adam White thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the visitors to the stand throughout the week.

🏭 The opening of the COMPASS (Composites at Speed and Scale) facility at the The University of Sheffield AMRC marks a new chapter in UK advanced manufacturing and a big step towards futuristic ultra-high-rate production of composite parts and components for the Aerospace industry.

🛩️ This pioneering new research and development facility that is now officially open in South Yorkshire provides next-generation aerospace manufacturing capabilities. The facility is home to The Boeing Company's biggest global research programme with the potential to create 3,000 UK jobs and around £2 billion annually in export opportunities.

🤖 Loop Technology are key partners in the COMPASS facility and on the Boeing led Isothermic High-Rate Sustainable Structures (IHSS) project, that aims to reduce composite component processing time from forty hours to four. We are also system integrators on the project, extending the scope of our responsibilities beyond the operation of our FibreLINE preforming equipment into full factory sequencing. This is the biggest system we have delivered as an industrial automation specialist and we are honoured to be working and collaborating with Boeing, AMRC, ATI, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and The University of Sheffield.

🗣️ Loop Technology CEO, Alun Reece, said of the opening: “It is deeply gratifying to see the COMPASS facility open its doors. Since the initial conception in 2019, this project has demanded vision, dedication, and outstanding teamwork from all the partners. Today marks a significant milestone, bringing us one major step closer to our goal of manufacturing composite aerostructures at greater speed and scale.”
