A bit of free advice for anyone considering air conditioning this summer!
When choosing a company to install air conditioning in your home or business, please choose carefully.
In commercial environments, it's generally understood that air conditioning should be installed by experienced air conditioning specialists. However, as domestic air conditioning has become increasingly popular over the last few years, we're seeing more companies from other trades offering AC installations alongside their main services.
Many of these businesses are hardworking, ambitious and genuinely trying to offer a good service. Some installations are completed to a perfectly acceptable standard and perform well for years.
Unfortunately, we are also seeing a growing number of installations that don't meet industry best practice. We are regularly called out to rectify issues, improve installations or repair systems that were not installed correctly in the first place.
If you're investing thousands of pounds in a system that's expected to last 10-15 years or more, it's worth doing a little homework before choosing your installer.
Here are a few things we recommend checking:
✅ Does the company specialise in air conditioning?
An F-Gas qualification is essential, but it only proves that someone is qualified to handle refrigerants safely. It is not a qualification that proves someone is an experienced air conditioning installer.
✅ Check their reviews
Look specifically for reviews relating to air conditioning installations, not just general plumbing, heating or electrical work.
✅ Ask what experience they have
Companies that regularly install systems in commercial environments as well as homes will often have wider experience across different applications and system types.
✅ Ask what brands they work with
Established air conditioning specialists typically have experience with multiple manufacturers and system types, allowing them to recommend the most suitable solution rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
✅ Look for specialists, not seasonal installers
If air conditioning appears to be a major part of the company's business all year round, that's usually a good sign that they are invested in the industry and keeping up with changing standards and technology.
This isn't about criticising other trades. We have great relationships with many local businesses and respect anyone working hard to build a successful company.
We're simply passionate about our industry and believe that high standards matter.
In fact, we'd rather lose a job to another reputable air conditioning company than see a customer end up with a poor installation that leaves them disappointed with air conditioning altogether.
If you're considering air conditioning in the Lincoln, Retford, Scunthorpe, Doncaster or surrounding areas, we'd be happy to provide a quote. We always recommend obtaining at least three quotations, and we're even happy to recommend other reputable local air conditioning companies alongside ourselves.
