We're heading to Education Estates 2026!

We will be in Manchester next week for Education Estates 2026, attending the pre-event networking on Monday 19 October and the exhibition on Tuesday 20 October at Manchester Central.

We're looking forward to catching up with existing contacts, meeting new faces and connecting with clients, architects, contractors and fellow consultants involved in the design, development and improvement of education facilities.

Huge congratulations to our very own Anthony Goodfellow on his recent win in the AWPC World Championships!

This caps off a successful year for Anth, following on from the ABPU Gold he won back in July. He also added to his total of World Records, with a 142.5kg squat and a 160.5kg deadlift, with a new world record overall total lifted of 395.5kg.

We’re proud to have sponsored and supported him on his journey, helping to cover some of the costs involved, taking some pressure off to let Anth focus on what he does best, on the platform!

A few members of the Portland team attended yesterday’s Smart Construction (Innovation) Conference & Exhibition, joining fellow industry professionals to explore the latest developments, ideas and technologies shaping the future of the construction sector.

The event comprised an engaging range of presentations and exhibitions split into three distinct sections: products, digital, and process

There was plenty to take away from the day, inspiring plenty of interesting conversations!

We were delighted to host a table at last Friday’s Lord’s Taverners Race Day, bringing together colleagues and clients to enjoy a fantastic afternoon of racing and fundraising!

We’re proud to continue our longstanding relationship with the Lord’s Taverners, a charity that does brilliant work supporting those living with a disability through sport.

Thanks to all who joined us on the day to help make it such an enjoyable afternoon.

Works are now underway in Washington on a major new training facility for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

The purpose-built All Hazards Village will provide firefighters and emergency service partners with a realistic environment in which to train for a wide range of operational scenarios, including simulated residential and commercial settings.

We’re proud to be supporting the project team as Civil & Structural Engineers, helping to deliver a facility engineered to replicate real-world fire conditions in a safe and controlled environment.

Working alongside TWFRS, Meldrum Construction Services Group, Identity Consult, Lumsdon Wood Partnership, Napper Architects and Neeco Ltd, we’re looking forward to seeing the project take shape over the coming months.

We’re glad to be part of the team working on this, supporting investment in firefighter training and operational readiness across the region

We were delighted to win a prize draw courtesy of as part of our active use of the GNR Civils Design Hub, and even happier to learn that our prize was an order of delicious pizza for the whole office!

The Civils Design Hub is a useful resource for civil engineering design, providing practical guidance and tools to support engineers throughout the design process.

Huge thanks again to the team at GNR for the pizzas, they went down a treat with the team!

Great to welcome SDS Infrastructure to the Portland office earlier today to deliver a CPD session to the team on Water Infrastructure Systems.

The session provided a valuable opportunity for the team to strengthen our understanding of water infrastructure, explore the latest approaches and consider how these can be incorporated into the design and delivery of effective civil engineering solutions

The transformation of the former King James Hospital site continues.

Great progress is being made at Clarke Chapman Court in Gateshead for Housing 21

The main building is reaching roof level, while groundwork and substructure work for the bungalow plots continue at pace. The new substation is also taking shape, marking another important milestone for the development.

Once complete, Clarke Chapman Court will provide 55 high-quality new homes designed for independent living.
