A closer look at the moment that our subsea project for McDermott left Arnish.

The footage below shows the completed structure moving directly from our fabrication hall onto a vessel at the adjacent Stornoway Harbour. Direct, deep-water quayside loadout on our doorstep means we can take a project from first steel cut through to full mechanical completion and load it out seamlessly. Arnish has established itself as a centre of excellence for complex energy infrastructure.

The structures, fabricated here in the Outer Hebrides, form part of the subsea infrastructure for a gas field off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago, and are now bound for the Caribbean. The full scope, from Factory Acceptance Tests and System Integration Testing through to loadout, was completed with zero Lost Time Injuries.

Congratulations again to the entire Arnish team, whose skill, accuracy and commitment to safety made this possible, and to everyone at Navantia UK and McDermott who delivered it as one team.

We're proud to share that Navantia UK has been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Top Apprenticeship Employers for the second year in a row.

It's recognition of the work our teams put into developing the next generation of talent across our yards in Appledore, Arnish, Belfast and Methil, where apprentices are helping to shape the future of the UK's defence, energy and maritime sectors.

Today, 222 apprentices are part of the Navantia UK team, making up around 20% of our workforce. As part of our 2026 intake, we're pleased to welcome a further 121 apprentices by September. Our structured career pathways mean apprentices can progress from Level 2 qualifications through to Master's-level programmes, building the skills and experience to develop long-term careers with us.

Being named among the UK's leading apprenticeship employers two years running says a lot about our apprentices and the mentors who back them. When we invest in our people and build skills across our sites, we help create the workforce our industry needs.

Last week, our team from the Appledore attended the North Devon and Torridge Maritime Network event at Pier House, Westward Ho!

The event brought together organisations with a shared interest in the maritime sector, focusing on supporting and strengthening the local maritime industry. It provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing, skills development and networking, all aimed at driving growth, sustainability and innovation across the sector.

Our Appledore General Manager, Laura Correa Mendioroz, delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of our apprenticeship programme as we prepare to welcome 20 new apprentices this September. We were also proud to hear from Jack Partridge, one of our third-year apprentices, who shared his personal apprenticeship journey and reflected on the growth and opportunities he has experienced since joining the company.

A big thank you to the North Devon and Torridge Maritime Network Group for the opportunity to present and contribute.

We're proud to have been awarded a Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) award under the Armed Forces Covenant.

Awarded by the Ministry of Defence, the scheme recognises employers who support the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers, and military spouses and partners, through their employment policies and workplace culture.

Supporting the people who serve matters to us. Members of the Armed Forces community bring experience and skills that strengthen our teams across the UK, and we're proud to work alongside them.

That support runs through how we work. Reservists with us get additional paid leave for training, we go to Career Transition Partnership events to meet service leavers, and we open our yards to cadets and reserve units to show what a career in shipbuilding and engineering can offer. Our VetNet network also gives colleagues with a Forces background a way to support each other.

Donato Martínez, Navantia UK CEO, said: “This Silver award reflects how much the Armed Forces community means to Navantia UK. As we grow across defence, energy and engineering, the experience and dedication that veterans and reservists bring is exactly what we want at the heart of the business.”

A big few days for the team at Navantia UK Arnish.

Working closely with our client McDermott Trinidad, we’ve successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing and System Integration Testing, followed by the loadout of the subsea structures we’ve been manufacturing - all delivered with zero Lost Time Injuries across the entire project.

Built in the Outer Hebrides, these structures will soon make their journey to the Caribbean, where they’ll play an important role in a major gas development off the east coast of Trinidad and Tobago.
These photos capture the final stages, from completed structures through to loadout at Stornoway Port.

This kind of delivery takes real teamwork, precision and a strong focus on safety and quality at every step. We’re incredibly proud of the Arnish team and the collaboration with McDermott that made it possible.

We're proud to announce that Navantia UK is among the first companies to sign the Offshore Wind Fair Work Charter.

Alongside 36 other supply chain companies and 5 trade unions, we're committing to stronger workplace standards, better union access and a genuine partnership with our workforce as the offshore wind sector scales up to deliver the UK's clean power ambitions.

We believe the energy transition must work for the people who build it and will play our part in ensuring those opportunities are fairly shared in the communities that will deliver this transition.

Proud to stand alongside government, industry and unions in making this commitment.

Offshore wind supply chain companies and trade unions back the government’s Offshore Wind Fair Work Charter.

Investment at Methil continues to gather pace, with a new plasma CNC cutting line now on site and being installed.

Using a computer-controlled plasma torch, the machine cuts steel plate quickly and accurately, shaping the materials used in blocks and structures. It marks a clear step up in capability, supporting the yard as it takes on more complex work.

This forms part of our ÂŁ27 million investment in Methil, within a wider ÂŁ157 million programme across our UK yards. The focus is on strengthening capability through advanced equipment, alongside improvements to lifting systems, transport, facilities and the wider yard environment.

Ahead of its arrival, members of the Methil team travelled to Germany to train with Messer Cutting Systems and see the equipment through factory testing. That experience is now being put to use as the line is brought into operation.

Dylan Honeyman, Senior Design Engineer, said: "Being involved from the factory stage through to installation has given us real confidence in how the machine performs. It's great to see it arrive at Methil, and we're looking forward to getting it up and running as we deliver our next project."

The yard continues to grow, with the workforce increasing from 180 to more than 260 people, including 54 apprentices. A further 20 apprentices are due to join in September, strengthening critical skills for the future.

Recent delivery of the Navantia UK Seahorse, an ÂŁ8 million, 85 metre transport barge, is already supporting the Fleet Solid Support programme. Work is now underway on a specialist vessel for an international customer.
