Open plan living. Love it or overrated?

For years, everyone wanted walls knocked down. Now we are hearing something very different from homeowners.

Some love it. It feels spacious and modern, great for families and entertaining, and lets in so much more light.

Others are done with it. There is nowhere to escape the noise, cooking smells travel through the entire house, it is hard to heat efficiently, and there is no privacy when working from home.

This is a rear extension we completed on a period London property and from the very start the goal was simple. Build something that felt like it had always been there.

Matching the original London stock brick, detailing the parapet, laying the patio so it flows naturally around the build. Every decision was made with the finished result in mind, not just the process of getting there.
