Weel Bridge has been lifted clear of the River Hull, beginning a £1 million refurbishment of a 70-year-old aluminium bascule structure for East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Last week, the 20-tonne structure was lifted clear of its bearings as part of a £1 million refurbishment programme delivered by Esh Group. The bridge is now bound for Sheffield, where coating works will take place.
Our A&I Coatings team is supplying the FEVE fluoropolymer coating system for the works, specified to deliver decades of further service with long-term colour and gloss retention. Off-site application in Sheffield keeps grit blasting and coating works clear of the surrounding SSSI, addressing one of the project's key environmental constraints.
Thanks to Mason Clark Associates for the project surveys, and Paint Inspection Ltd (PIL) for the coating specification work. We're glad to be supporting Esh, Ekspan and Retroflo on a project of real significance to the local community.
