Up next St Kea church porch restoration. The weathers looking better and my apprentice Bow and myself will be replacing 4 front posts scarfing some decayed bottom plates and introducing some fine braces to upgrade the existing stuby braces using very air dried Oak (7 plus years old). Also giving this external structure a thorough sand to remove the Sandolin varnish that some person painted on in years gone by and then treated with a Linseed and tongue oil mix.

They laughed and said you won't do that in a day. Maker heights. Rame head solar canopy, which doubles up as a covered seating/ eating area for the hundreds of campers that come through in the summer. 6.5 tonnes of oak. Possibly the most difficult exercise in post height/ positions calculations with a roof of 3.5 degree pitch 10m by 12m. 12 posts Fixed down with 650mm of m16 SS bar with hidden nut and washer in to a granite saddle stone pier resin anchored in to 1 tonne concrete plinth. Engineered to withstand 1 tonne of uplift per post due to the high winds.
Pleased. With Stuart and I. Amazing what you can achieve with a good team and a great crane driver ( on a blind lift) and slinger.
