We are proud to sponsor the 2026 North Island & New Zealand Sheep Dog Trial Championships. In association with Hawkes Bay Dog Trials. With the event right here in Te Aute, we dropped in to see the dogs and their handlers in action. An awesome day out for Hawke’s Bay.

Lattey Group has deep roots in the rural community, delivering farm bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and slip repairs that keep our primary sector moving.

Project: Taradale Road culvert upgrade.

Our civil crew lead by Keegan Kelly is doing a great job working on this project in some challenging circumstances
Well done to all those involved and thank you to our client for trusting us to getting the job done.

🚧 Three months in the making and it's all happening!

After months of digging, dewatering, sheet piling and prep work, the Taradale Road culvert upgrade has hit its biggest milestone yet. Last week the crew laid the concrete base, getting everything perfectly level and inspected before the pour went in Saturday morning.

Since the weekend, the new larger culvert sections – made to measure off site – have arrived on site and been going in fast. Nine out of 20 are already in the ground, and the crew are now building the concrete walls at each end of the culvert that will guide water in and out and hold the waterway’s banks firmly in place.

Next week the team will start filling the ground back in around the new stormwater culvert.

For everyone who's driven past the site wondering what's going on down there, it's all starting to take shape.

We'll keep the updates coming as the finish line gets closer 👷

Project: Eskdale School Retaining Wall

“Thanks" Atkin Construction Ltd for the throwback to this project. We were lucky enough to take on the challenge of constructing the retaining wall for stage 1 of this project. Amazing to see it competed with some stunning finishing touches and an impressive project overall.

Project: Timatanga Bridge, Wairoa

Finishing touches on another successful forestry bridge project, this time for JNL Ltd in their Timatanga Forest north of Wairoa.

A great collaboration between our civil and precast divisions, delivering a 38.00m x 4.30m forestry bridge made up of 22 precast 2m x 4.30m pre stressed deck slabs sitting on two 38m steel beams, complete with handrails and kerbing.

A solid testament to Lattey Group’s teamwork, smart approach and our ability to deliver the goods. 😎

Project: Woodford House

We love a good crane in action shot! Our 90T crane is installing the structural steel and timber frames for The Gatehouse at the Woodford House project.

This job has been a great showcase of all three of our divisions with Civil installing the retaining piles. Precast manufacturing the capping beam and cranes delivering the heavy lifts on site

It’s been a pleasure working alongside the team at Gemco, and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Project: KiwiRail Bridge 1 (Ohai)

Lattey Group might be Hawke’s Bay born and bred, but our work takes us right across the country, including all the way to Invercargill.

We’re proud to be working with KiwiRail on Bridge 1 (Ohai), delivering nine pier replacements using an innovative Screw Pile design. The team is making great progress installing piles directly from the rail line, keeping out of the waterway and reducing environmental impact.

We’re also partnering with local Southland businesses for traffic management, scaffolding, and plant hire to support the community while we deliver this essential upgrade. Huge credit to our crew on the ground representing Lattey Group and delivering another successful project.

In Spring 2025, Lattey Group were engaged by Kaingaroa Tipu (formerly Timberlands Forests) and Dean Neilson to design, fabricate, and install a new bridge to provide access for logging trucks and heavy equipment within the Urutomo Forest off SH5.

Working closely with our design partners, we designed a single span bridge solution designed in accordance with the NZ Bridge Manual. The final structure is a 24.00m long bridge, rated for a 95 tonne maximum gross load.

From commencement of works to final installation, the build took approximately three weeks onsite, delivering a smooth and efficient programme. The project was a complete success, and it was a pleasure working alongside the Kainaroa Tipu team and their earthworks contractors.

A special thanks to Andy Percy for capturing the epic footage of the 24 m girders being transported through their stunning forest, the deck slab installation, and the final bridge being put through its paces.
