Honest answer — it depends. And we’ll always tell you the truth either way.

Here’s what tells us a repair won’t hold:

→ The leak is at a join on sectional spouting. You can reseal it, but it’ll likely to fail again next season.

→ There’s visible rust along the gutter. Corrosion spreads — patching one spot just moves the problem.

→ The spouting is sagging or pulling away from the fascia. This could be rotting fascia boards or spouting brackets that have failed.

→ The fascia behind the spouting is soft, stained or rotting. A new gutter on rotted fascia won’t last.

Is this something to worry about or just cosmetic? It is definitely not just cosmetic and the two things are more connected than most people realise. 🌿

Here is what is actually happening:
