When you take part in The Million Steps Challenge, every step you take in September does something real.

The Million Steps Challenge raises funds for the Methanex Neonatal Unit at Taranaki Base Hospital, supporting our tiniest, most vulnerable patients and the families sitting beside them.

Grab three mates, sign up as a team, and start walking with purpose.

WorkSafe New Zealand requires all Major Hazard Facilities (which include our sites) to provide a written safety case report that describes how we keep our operations safe, how we reduce or eliminate hazards and risks that have the potential to cause a major incident, and how we are prepared to respond to any potential major incidents.

You can read through our Safety Case summary online or send us a message and we'll get a printed copy out to you. Neighbours of our Omata and Port facilities can expect a site-specific version in their mailboxes soon.

You may have noticed a little more noise and activity on site today as we restart the plant after our recent scheduled winter outage. Some additional steam and flaring are to be expected as we get back into our regular production process, but this will settle very quickly, and we'll be back to normal operation over the next day or two.

Mōrena, today we begin the process of moving into our planned winter outage for two months. We do this in order to divert our gas to the NZ electrical system during the high demand winter months. If you live close by, you might notice a bit more noise and traffic for a few days. We’re working to minimise any disturbance but if you have any questions please feel free to message us or give us a call. Thank you.

It was such an honour to attend the blessing of the New East Wing Building at Taranaki Base Hospital yesterday. Travelling through the building with our hapū and iwi leaders, and, especially walking through the Methanex Neonatal Unit on Level 2, was a very proud moment.

This is an exciting and important facility for our community and our whole team is absolutely thrilled to have played a part in creating this for Taranaki.

Congratulations to Isabel Paroli who has just been awarded the Methanex Women in Engineering Scholarship for 2026. Isabel is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland and has already earned a place on the Dean's Honours List.

We were so impressed by Isabel's strong academic record along with her key role in supporting other wāhine through their engineering training.

It was a pleasure to get to know Isabel through the application process and we can't wait to see what she does next.

Congratulations, Isabel!
