What’s summer like for an Ardmore Roderick Engineer?

For Jennifer Magnabosco, PE, Project Engineer & Transportation Asset Manager, it looked like time in the field at the Illinois Tollway, connecting with fellow transportation professionals at the WTS Greater Chicago Scholarship Awards Event, cheering on the Chicago Bulls with her team, and mentoring and managing a group of summer interns.

A pretty good mix of project work, professional growth, and time with the people who make AR a great place to work!

This summer, Community Outreach Intern Ava Cager has been helping connect the CTA Red Line Extension Program (RLE) with residents across Chicago's Far South Side. Ardmore Roderick is providing Program Management services for the RLE!

Ava's work includes developing outreach materials such as newsletters, videos, flyers, banners, yard signs, and youth engagement initiatives, as well as attending community events to engage directly with residents and stakeholders.

Through her efforts, Ava helps ensure community members stay informed, share their feedback, and remain actively involved in this historic transit project. By engaging directly with residents, she helps make sure community voices are heard and respected every step of the way.

Our 2026 Summer Internship Program is coming to a close, and our interns are wrapping up their time at Ardmore Roderick with their end-of-summer Capstone Projects, sharing what they learned, worked on, and accomplished throughout the summer.

Last week, Ardmore Roderick joined COMTO for its National Meeting and Training Conference in Washington, D.C., where President Sharon A. Jean-Baptiste, PE, participated in two panel discussions focused on leadership, career growth, and the future of transportation.

Sharon joined industry leaders for “Beyond the Boardroom: The Truth About Stepping Into the C-Suite” and also took part in the COMTO CITY Internship Program panel, “Rooted in Legacy: Mentorship, Networking, and Building Your Future in Transportation,” alongside the next generation of transportation professionals.

As a proud sponsor of the conference, we’re glad to support COMTO and its continued work to create opportunities and strengthen the transportation industry.

Ardmore Roderick’s interns Carlos and Katelyn were out in the field performing inspections for IDOT’s reconstruction of I-80 from Houbolt Road to Joliet Junction Trail. They performed inspection of the subgrade, aggregate base course, stabilized base course, CRC pavement and installation of drill shafts, noise wall panels for noise abetment walls on the project.

Their work included verifying that the work is getting performed in accordance with the contract plans, specifications, and project special provisions.

Hands-on experiences like these give our interns a firsthand look at the important role of inspection to maintain the quality of the workmanship which will ensure that the roadways we build today will serve our communities for years to come!
