Sustainability is the Hoffman value we're focusing on for the next two weeks.

Long before green building became an industry standard, Hoffman was helping deliver projects that pushed the boundaries of energy efficiency, material performance, and environmental responsibility.

Today, that commitment continues in many forms, from reducing waste and maximizing material recovery to supporting renewable energy and helping clients achieve ambitious sustainability goals.
Decisions made during design and construction can have impacts that last for decades, which is why sustainability is an important part of how we build.

As we conclude our focus on Community as part of Hoffman's Values Campaign, we're reflecting on one of the many ways organizations can support the places where they work: by investing in local businesses.

For our recent Washington Main Office Open House, we intentionally partnered with a group of small, locally owned businesses that helped create a welcoming experience for our clients, partners, and guests. From catering and event rentals to music, and photography, each played an important role.

Some company traditions happen in the office. One of our favorite traditions happens outside at 3 a.m., somewhere between Mt. Hood and the Oregon Coast.

Hood to Coast is 196 miles of running, driving, handoffs, and keeping each other moving. Twelve teammates. Two vans. One very long road to the finish.

For decades, Hoffman teams have shown up for the challenge, the camaraderie and, yes, a little friendly competition. And this past weekend we were proud to have finished the course yet again.

Thanks to everyone who ran, drove, supported, and kept the team moving this year. We’ll see you all next year!

We're excited to share that the Portland International Airport Main Terminal Expansion received an Award of Merit in the Airport/Transit category of the Engineering News-Record 2026 Northwest Best Projects competition.

The project reflects the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of an extraordinary team working together to transform one of the Pacific Northwest's most recognizable transportation hubs while maintaining ongoing airport operations.

Thank you to the Port of Portland, ZGF Architects, Skanska USA, and the many designers, engineers, consultants, trade partners, craftspeople, and project team members who contributed to its success.

Congratulations to all of this year's ENR Northwest Best Projects winners and honorees. For full list: https://www.enr.com/blogs/50-west-construction-views/post/63597-announcing-enr-west-northwest-2026-best-projects-winners

Strong partnerships build more than projects.

This past weekend, Hoffman joined friends and long-time partners from ZGF Architects for the 2026 Bike MS Deception Pass Classic, raising more than $57,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Over the years, our teams have worked together on healthcare facilities, higher education projects, housing, transportation infrastructure, and other spaces that help strengthen communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. This annual ride is a reminder that those same partnerships can make a meaningful difference away from jobsites and project meetings, too.

Together, riders, virtual participants, family members, friends, and donors helped advance research, expand resources, and provide support for individuals and families affected by MS.

Thank you to everyone who rode, donated, volunteered, and cheered us on along the way.

A beautiful day on the course, and an opportunity to say thank you.

Last month, Hoffman welcomed clients, design partners, owners, consultants, and trade partners to the 2026 Hoffman Golf Invitational.

While the day included plenty of friendly competition, the purpose of the Invitational remains the same each year: recognizing the people and organizations whose trust, expertise, and collaboration help make our work possible.

Construction is a relationship business, and this event provides an opportunity to step away from project meetings and spend time with the partners who help shape the projects and communities we serve.

We're grateful for the many relationships that continue to make our work possible.

We're continuing to focus on Community as part of Hoffman's Values Campaign this week. Over the past several days, we've shared examples of community in action, from volunteer efforts in Texas and support for local cultural institutions to projects that help advance healthcare throughout the Pacific Northwest. While those stories may look very different, they share something important: they remind us that construction is ultimately about people.

The hospitals, schools, parks, athletic facilities, water infrastructure, and gathering spaces we help deliver support everyday moments that matter. They create opportunities, strengthen local economies, and serve the communities around them.

Community isn't something we build once a project is complete. It's something we contribute to through relationships, local partnerships, volunteerism, and a commitment to leaving a positive impact wherever we work.

Community is the Hoffman value we're currently focusing on, and few organizations have shaped our region quite like OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

For 100 years, Doernbecher has cared for children and families throughout the Pacific Northwest while advancing pediatric research, education, and innovation.

Projects like these remind us that construction is about far more than buildings. The hospitals, schools, parks, sports venues, and gathering spaces we help deliver are places where communities are strengthened every day.

As Doernbecher celebrates its centennial, we invite you to explore its remarkable history and impact on our region:
