UCLA G.O. Discovery Lab: Gynecologic Oncology Cancer Research Lab The G.O. Discovery Lab is a research laboratory focused on studying Gynecologic Oncology (G.O.) Discovery Lab website is registered by Regents of UC California.

Discovery Lab is a research laboratory focused on studying Gynecologic Oncology (G.O.). It is located at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), affiliated with the Eli and Edythe Broad Stem Cell Research Center and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This lab uses basic science to develop new and better treatments for gynecologic cancers, particularly endometrial and ovarian ca

ncer. The work focuses on identifying the cells where women’s cancers start, then developing treatments that target these cells. Once developed, targeted treatments like this could potentially have fewer side effects and be more effective than current treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. The lab was founded in 2008 by Dr. Sanaz Memarzadeh and is funded by federal grants, awards from foundations and private donations.

In collaboration with Dr. Jasmine Zhou and an incredible team of UCLA scientists, our director has published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences a new low-cost blood test to detect and monitor many diseases including ovarian cancer.

The test could offer a powerful and more affordable approach to early disease detection and comprehensive health monitoring.

We are excited to share our recent publication with Dr. Evan Abt in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences presenting a potential new strategy to target aggressive cancers, including ovarian carcinoma, with RB1-loss.

Researchers have uncovered a hidden weakness in some of the deadliest cancers, revealing a potential new strategy for targeting tumors that have long resisted treatment.
