🏡 Original charm. Modern function. ✨

A lot of Twin Cities homeowners think a bathroom remodel means tearing out everything that makes an older home special.

Not here.

In this project, we preserved the 1920s character, saved original details ❤️, and reworked the layout to add a much-needed shower 🚿 and better everyday functionality. The result? A bathroom that feels true to the home—just works a whole lot better. ✨

Thinking about remodeling your Minneapolis or St. Paul home but worried about losing its character?

That’s exactly the conversation we love to have. 🔨

Are you considering an accessory dwelling unit or home addition? 👀

This Windom project transformed an old garage into a warm, light-filled writer’s haven just steps from the main house — a private retreat designed for focus, comfort, and year-round use. With vaulted wood ceilings, new Marvin windows, custom built-ins, and a mini-split for all-season comfort, it’s a great example of how an ADU can add both function and beauty to your property.

For Minneapolis homeowners, spaces like this prove that an accessory dwelling unit or thoughtful addition can do a lot more than add square footage — it can completely change how you live at home.

“Tell me about a time….” 😁 Love the character of your old bathroom… but not the moisture, mold, and cramped layout?

A small Tudor-style primary bathroom had beautiful character — but also moisture problems, condensation, and a layout that felt tight and closed in. Dan and Karla walk through how Hanson rebuilt the space, solved the ventilation issues, and recreated the signature arch detail in a way that honored the home while making the bathroom work beautifully for daily life.

For Minneapolis and St. Paul homeowners, this is what thoughtful remodeling looks like: keeping the charm, fixing the problems, and creating a space that finally feels as good as it looks.

This is the stage where a dormer addition stops feeling theoretical and starts feeling real. 👀

In this video, Dan Hanson walks through the framing process inside a dormer addition — the point where new space, ceiling lines, room layout, and flow start taking shape. For homeowners in Minneapolis and St. Paul, this is one of the most important stages of a remodel because it shows how the addition will actually live, not just how it looked on paper.

Framing is where good planning meets real craftsmanship. It sets the foundation for everything that follows — insulation, drywall, trim, finishes, and ultimately a space that feels like it was always meant to be part of the home.

If you’re considering a dormer addition, second-story remodel, or major home renovation in the Twin Cities this year or next, this is the kind of behind-the-scenes work that matters. Beautiful results start with building it right.

One of the smartest additions you can make to an older Twin Cities home? A mudroom. 👀

In Minneapolis and St. Paul, so many older homes drop you straight into the house with little to no buffer zone. And in Minnesota, that gets old real fast.

In this video, Dan Hanson walks through a back-of-house addition designed to become the family’s main entry point from the garage — a hardworking mudroom with the storage, durability, and everyday function homeowners actually need. Coats, boots, backpacks, snow gear, wet dogs, grocery bags… this is the kind of space that quietly changes how a home lives.

What makes this kind of addition so impactful is that it does two things at once:
it improves daily function and blends beautifully with the original home. In this project, the new addition carries through the existing stucco, soffit details, overhangs, and brick pattern so it feels like it has always belonged there.

For homeowners in Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Twin Cities, this is one of those additions that may not sound flashy at first — but once you have it, you cannot imagine living without it.

Can you actually live in your home during a remodel? 👀

It’s one of the first questions homeowners in Minneapolis and St. Paul ask when they start planning a renovation — and the answer is: sometimes, yes… and sometimes, it makes more sense to move out for a while.

In this video, Dan and Karla talk through why some homeowners choose to stay and why others decide it’s better to leave during construction. It often depends on the size of the remodel, which rooms are affected, how disruptive the work will be, and what makes the most sense for your family’s day-to-day life.

For Twin Cities homeowners, this is a big part of planning a remodel the right way. Because remodeling is not just about the finished result — it’s also about making smart decisions for how you live during the process.

If you’ve been wondering, “Can I live here during the remodel?” this is a conversation worth hearing.

Before & After: from basic bath to bold personality. ✨

This Minneapolis bathroom remodel took an outdated space and turned it into a whimsical, mid-century inspired bathroom designed for real daily life. The new double sink/triple vanity gives the room better function, the warm wood cabinetry brings in that classic mid-century feel, and the three medicine cabinets add much-needed storage without making the space feel crowded.

We love how the playful wall color, rounded mirrors, globe lighting, brass details, black fixtures, and tile accents all work together to make this bathroom feel fresh, fun, and highly functional.

A bathroom remodel does not have to be plain to be practical. Sometimes the best design is the one that makes your morning routine easier — and makes you smile before coffee.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁… 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹?

Once the down payment is in, the real behind-the-scenes work begins.

In this video, Dan Hanson walks through what happens next — including how products and materials are ordered, why timing matters, and what needs to be lined up early to keep a remodeling project moving. From cabinets and tile to fixtures and finish materials, this part of the process helps set the stage for a smoother remodel.

For homeowners in Minneapolis and St. Paul, understanding what happens after you commit to a project can make the whole remodeling experience feel a lot less mysterious. Good remodeling is not just about the final reveal — it’s about smart planning, clear process, and making sure the right pieces are in place from the start.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens after the paperwork is signed, this is the kind of behind-the-scenes look most homeowners never get to see.
